Bout to iron some clothes which I ####### hate bc my iron sucks balls. Need a FBG recommendation for a new iron... Anyone have one they really like? I also tried a steamer and wasn't very happy, maybe I just had a ####ty one?

Damp towel and dryer

Get one of those standing steamers.

I haven't used an iron in years and I'm a bachelor who doesn't fold anything.
Do you actually use the clip thing attached to it?

So you're supposed to hang it on the standing hanger and then put the clip on the shirt, pants while using the steamer? Almost feels like more work with similar results. Maybe I just had a ####ty steamer.

Never used the clip. I just hold the steam vents against the clothes and slowly let it unwrinkle everything

If you brush wool slacks or jackets after each wearing you can wear them a few dozen times before the need to be dry cleaned. They really don't wrinkle much.

The only people I know that iron their own shirts are really, really good at it. They can bang a shirt out in a few minutes. The rest of us take our shirts to the cleaners.

On the off times I need to get wrinkles out fast I use a hand steamer.

This is what I do if in a hurry. Not for dress shirts, though. I get a shirt fresh from the cleaners or just buy a brand new one the day before the rare event I need to dress up.

I don't mind ironing.

I think this is the iron we have or another very similar Rowenta. I also have a big spray bottle of water that I use instead of/in addition to the steam... just like having the extra volume.

This is a good idea. Especially if you have hard water. If you run tap water through your iron, the heat and evaporation will leave all sorts of calcium build-up in the iron. Inevitably, it'll come out on a dark colored shirt and make it look like you ate a powdered doughnut on it.

The spray bottle is a really good idea. I'm totally going to do that with my next iron. The current one is already full of crust so I guess it is what it is.

Side-note, NEVER use the steam or spray on a hotel iron without testing it on a towel first. I've ruined shirts due to crap in hotel irons.
