Is Branch Starting yet? (1 Viewer)

Have you heard that he is starting yet? I mean he is making tons of money and is alternating in with the number 3 (Burleson). Nothing, is more frustrating then watching Branch sit on the sidelines half the downs. Then when he is in he has to be involved or he is not going to produce. He is not getting into the games mentally or physically yet. One would think after the bye week this week, that this is the week he starts opposite Jackson. Has anyone heard anything regarding Branch. Calling all Seattle Homers

IMO Engram hasn't done anything to warrant losing the starting spot. I don't know what else Seattle could ask of him. He's been a very solid possession guy. I think he stays in that for that reason and Branch is brought in in packages to spread the field.

You have to be kidding , they brought him in to start. He should start as early as next week.

I agree that has to be an Engram owner. I am an Engram fan as I am a huge PSU fan, but I am a Branch owner and cannot see why they brought him in, paid him a ton, and let him sit. I could see till he learned playbook, but if he does not play now it seems like a lot of wasted money!

You don't pay the kind of contract that Seattle did for Branch to have him not starting. Going forward, he'll be starting while Engram will assume the slot position.

The only reason Branch has "sat" is unfamiliarity with the complex WCO. Plus they are adding many new 4 wr plays to accomodate for their wealth of talent at the position. As a #2 WR, Burleson has not met expectations, but as a #4?! What an option. The Hawks will be in MANY 3 WR sets, as well as 4 WRs. Engram will never be on the bench as he is the 3rd down slot monster. Expect Branch, with another 2 weeks of learning the O under his belt, to be the #1b WR this week and forward.

WR Engram Sits With Illness, Set For Tests

Associated Press, ESPN - [Full Article]

WR Bobby Engram watched practice as he was feeling ill. "He is feeling kind of funky today," HC Mike Holmgren said, adding Engram was due to get a round of doctor's tests. If Engram remains sick, WR Deion Branch could get his first Seattle start Sunday. "He is certainly ready," the coach said.

from da blogger.

So, what is unreal is that fact that Branch still is considered a number 3. If Engram plays he is still number 2. That sucks bad!

Doesn't Engram play the slot postion anyway? I was under the impression that Burrelson would be the one headed to the bench when Branch got a grasp of the offense.

That's what I thought as well.

That's probably correct except that Engram is Hasslebeck's security blanket. SO he sees more passes from the slot than your average #3 WR -- and potentially more targets than a #2. It's never surprising to see Engram make 7 to 8 grabs in a game, for maybe 70-80 yards and a touch. I still think (and hope) Branch will start this week and be a primary target for Hass -- Alexander out again means much more 3 and 4 WR sets. Probably will get a good idea this week how far Branch has progressed in learning the offense AND how much Hass trusts him to make the grab when a big play is needed.

So it seems like Engram > Branch so far. I kind of don't like this situation. You know D.Jax will get his, but it could be a toss-up every week with the other WR's. Reminds me of Shanny and Denver RB's, lol.

Until he plays, we can only speculate about forward target distribution to Djax, Branch and Engram.

Safe to assume Djax and Engram surrender targets to Branch to the tune of 5-8 targets per game, with a transition, and with some upside....

As a Pats fan and Branch owner, I'm paying close attention to this situation. Would love to see him emerge as the #2 sooner than later, but something tells me with all the mouths to feed in Seattle, he will only be a borderline WR3 from here on out.

IMO, his greatest value lies in if Djax misses some time, in which case he'll put up WR2 #s IMO. To that end, if you own Branch & have depth at WR, Branch's greatest value might lie in shopping him to the Djax owner.

Branch will be the #2 within the next three weeks. Keep in mind in Dynasty Leagues that DJAX will likely not be back next year as he and the team have had a huge fallout because he wants a pay bump. Branch will be the guy next year and if you hold Burleson in a dynasty, I'd hang on because he's gonna be the #2 guy next year.

GO HAWKS.

Thanks to Fitz' injury, Branch moves into my starting lineup this week.

Outlook: 5 catches, 70yds, 1td.
