Is Calvin Johnson really a must start this week? (1 Viewer)

My guess is that Tampa is going to have problems with Talib and McCoy out. If it's a close game you gotta figure Calvin is a big part of the plan to get a win. I'm leaning toward starting him because of the opponent.
Not just those two guys, but LB Quincy Black as well. The Bucs D is going to be ripe with replacements this week. I like CJ's chances for a start-worthy performance.

If you could guarantee me 15 targets, I'd be all on board the Megatron express.

But his low reception count with Stanton throwing him the ball worries the hell out of me.

1 catch out of 11 targets last week... I don't care whether it was against a good D or not. I hate that line.

This is the same scenario Fitzgerald owners have been faced with all season.

I agree with the masses that benching him for Holmes would be foolishness. Sanchez hasn't shown himself to be any better than Stanton.

I have Tampa Mike in the same game and I'd have a hard time benching Calvin for him... the Lions D hasn't exactly played poorly against teams with OK offenses.

But I do have Nicks. And I have Britt. And I have a huge deficit to make up due to Vernon Davis getting skunked. Nicks is a must-start in any scenario and I trust Collins to get Britt the ball at home against Houston (a team that plays well against the run) more than I trust Stanton to get Megatron the ball on the road against Tampa Bay (a team that does not play well against the run; I think Best redeems himself this week).

So the question now is this... do I find a spot in my active roster to start Megatron at FLEX over Felix Jones or Ahmad Bradshaw? With a likely scenario of only 3-4 receptions, I'm thinking no.
Same boat for me. I'm rolling with Britt and trying to decide if I want to roll with CJ over Stewart. Probably not....
I've just put Megatron back into my lineup... but NOT over Felix or Bradshaw or any of my receivers. He's getting the start over Jamaal Charles. Croyle starting for the Chiefs can only result in bad things for the entire Kansas City offense.

And it's not like a healthy Rams squad were a great matchup to begin with. (I have Blount rolling ahead of Charles in another league.)

If I were you i'd bench him. His 12 td's this year despite 3 different QB's are all in the past.
Most of those with Stafford and Hill...Stanton sucks...bad.

Plus, you never know but Tampa could to be starting a new, soon-to-be Pro Bowl cornerback to take the place of the one they just lost to injury.
It doesn't matter because Stanton can't get him the ball
How did your overthinking on Calvin and Stanton work out for you?
