Is Demarcus Ware a LB or DL? (1 Viewer)

But the Cowboys list him as a DL on their roster page, but they also call him a LB on their front page. NFL.com has him a DL.

I'm asking because Fanball has him listed as a LB in their draft room, but if you do a player search in your league he comes up as a DL... I'd like him on my team as a DL but not as a LB.

Is there a consensus on this?

OLB in the 3-4 is never a tackle monster. He will, however, get his share of sacks and big plays.Honestly, he is probably nothing better than a LB4 with upside. Temper your excitement over his performance last night.

Essentially his position is pass rusher...when the Cowboys play a 4 man front he is DE. He is an OLB in the 3-4 and will have more responsibilities in coverage but will rush the passer a large percentage of the time. Depending on how your league lists him the difference in value is huge. If he is a DE he gets sacks, an interception or two and 45-60 tackles he is a top 10 if not higher player. As a LB unless your league awards huge points for sacks and/or turnovers he is a borderling starter/good bye week fill in.

Can any Cowboy fans confirm that Ware played predominantly OLB this year? This is an issue in my league, as Ware is listed as a LB on our site, but there has been some debate about his true role. My understanding is that the Cowboys base defense is a 3-4...thus Ware plays OLB. True?

Every year it seems like there's a tweener guy or 2 who gets listed as a DL and plays mostly LB.A few years back, I seem to remember MFL listing McGinest as a DL & I jumped on him.If you can find those guys, they are very handy, but often for only 1 year until they get "fixed". He's a guy I'd definitely inquire about with your league service and point out the inconsistency in their listings. If they make him a DL, grab him. You might even grab him first.

I was wondering about situations where LB's would be eligible at DL, would they be worth alot more? Is it like finding a DH or hitter eligible at Catcher?Anyway, I am very curious if anyone knows any of these guys (usually hybrid guys I'm guessing) that are DL switching to LB. Scheme changes I'm sure go along with this. For example I have heard Jason taylor will be moving to LB, but will no doubt be eligible at DL.

My league uses DL and LB, and whatever position they are listed on NFL.com, that's their position eligibility.

Here are some more points about my league....

Touchdowns (including Special Team TDs) 6 points

Sack 2 points

½ Sack 1 point

Tackle and Tackle Assist 1 point

Interceptions 2 points

Pass Defense 1 point

Forced Fumble 2 points

Fumble Recoveries 2 points

Safety 2 points

A tweener is more valuable at DL. DL's in general don't score as many points as LBs -- because tackles usually rack up more points than sacks. A middle-of-the-road DL is worth almost nothing.Jason Taylor was the #1 DL in my league this year, but would have been something like the #25-30 LB. So obviously you'd rather have a tweener play DL. I really hope that Taylor stays listed as a DL.
