Is DeSean Jackson a top-10 dynasty WR? (1 Viewer)

DeSean Jackson is the #1 WR in non-PPR leagues right now and has done it without McNabb for the most part. He's also only 22 years old.

Is he at the level, right now, of being a top-10 dynasty WR, and if not who are 10 guys you'd rather have?

Yes. A young Steve Smith there.
Steve Smith perhaps. But I liken him to Marvin Harrison. A relatively small receiver who is super quick. And when he splits the defense, he is gone.If only he had the precision of Peyton throwing to him instead of McNabb (and Kolb). I dont think he is a sell high player either. He is here to stay. This offense is slowly ebbing toward this kid, and drifting away from Westbrook.

I'd rate him somewhere between 15-18. He reminds me of Santonio Holmes from 2007. His YPC is going to comedown here shortly and when it does his value is going to take a hit.

He does have potential, but I don't see this kid as a complete WR yet.

Santonio Holmes doesn't have anything close to the speed Jackson has. DeSean also runs better routes and returns punts with efficiency.

Whooohoo. Ok now thats 2 of my wr's i have both are getting top 10 hype. And to think i sometimes have to bench one of them.
And you thought we would care?I see DJax in the 7-10 range next year.
I think that is about right. This kid looks like he is only going to get better and should be top 10 in dynasty going forward. If you get return yardage points he is top 10 now. With Celek and McCoy also there, that offense looks like it already has the next generation of weapons, too.

Wow, I'm kind of surprised by the overwhelming votes of yes DeSean is top-10. I have him right on the border of top-10 behind:

1.AJ

2.Fitz

3.Calvin

4.Wayne

5.Jennings

6.Moss

7.Smith

8.White

9.V-JAX

10.Colston

11.DeSean

12.Harvin

13.Boldin

14.Bowe

15.Holmes

So if seemingly everyone has DeSean in the top-10(or in many cases 7th or so) who do I have too high?

I wouldn't trade Jackson straight up for White in a dynasty league. Not a knock on White's talent. But White doesn't seem to be the breakaway threat that Jackson is.

From the VJax thread:

"That said... Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Steve Smith, Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne are all clearly ahead of VJax, in my opinion. They've got the track record, and outside of Moss any age considerations are incredibly premature (all of the other WRs have at least 5 seasons of high-level production left in them). The fact that Randy Moss is Randy Moss causes me to rank him that high despite the age (based on historical trends, he's got 2 seasons of very high production and 1 season of garden variety high production left). I think he can be good enough in the next two seasons to justify that ranking, and I also think that if any WR is going to be the next Jerry Rice (i.e. continue to be productive past 35), it's Moss, who is a physical freak of nature and could lose a lot of his physical advantage while still remaining one of the most gifted WRs in the league.

After those 6, you've kind of got a nebulous cloud of young not-quite-proven-elite WRs like Jennings, Colston, Bowe, and DeSean Jackson, as well as a couple of very proven but lower ceiling guys like Boldin and Rowdy Roddy White and the wildcards like Ochocinco and Marshall (who are proven, but risks for other reasons). I think Vincent Jackson very much belongs somewhere in the middle of that tier."

Just looking quickly, I'd say I'd have him over Smith, VJax, and probably Colston.

DeSean Jackson over Smiff in dynasty? Wow. When last I checked, Steve Smith was 6 months younger than Reggie Wayne, still a stud, and STILL the only player I have ever seen triple-covered for an entire game. You think Delhomme's going to keep his value down? I'm not convinced (hasn't happened so far), but even if you're right... this is dynasty. The one thing you can count on is that talent always wins out. If Delhomme can't get the ball to Smiff, then Delhomme won't be under center, big contract or no big contract.

Well, I didn't give it too much thought, so I wouldn't fight it to the death or anything, but yeah, I don't like Delhomme or the Panthers O as much. And I agree that talent wins out, but I think DeSean is really, really talented.

I can respect it, I was mostly just angling for your reasoning. Like I said... Steve Smith. The only man on the planet who has ever had a team say "screw it, our game plan this week is to just triple-cover Steve Smith all game long". IN THE PLAYOFFS, no less.

MAN....this other Steve Smith is Killin right now.when is he going to get some due respect in these ranking or do you still think its all a fluke?
When he establishes himself as a legitimate talent and when Eli Manning demonstrates he can be productive for something more than a 4 game sample. His numbers look nice, but from what I've seen, no team in the league would pick Steve Smith over DeSean, Vincent, Marques, Roddy, etc. Long run, that matters.
