Is Donovan Mcnabb 100% healthy? (1 Viewer)

As a long time Donovan Mcnabb fan I hope that he is

a) Healthy

b) His wr's are good enough for him to put up big numbers.

I think he is going to decline a little this season. He will no longer be an elite fantasy option.

Please discuss

He looks alot better than Palmer Looked at this stage at Least IMO. He looks really solid.

Curtis , Brown, Baskett are really no worse than what he had last year and lead the NFL through 10 weeks.

McNabb is one of the few QBs in the NFL who doesn't need good WRs to put up big numbers. He's a beast.

he always starts out hot, then cools off, and gets hurt.

repeat, and fade to black.

he is most definitely on the decline, and imo, isn't an elite QB< and I'm not sure he ever was.

He won't scramble nearly as much as he used to, and I'm just not sure he's a true pocket passer.

He'll be decent, but I think Leinart will have a better season, ad you can select Leinart MUCH later than McNabb..

same with Cutler.

only twice in his NFL career, has McNabb thrown for more than 21 tds in a season. Twice.

McNabb should still be highly productive (until he gets hurt).

His early schedule is a cake-walk.

As long as Westbrook catchs passes , McNabb has a big play threat.

Curtis and Brown are both decent WR's that compliment each other well and should surprise.

Any given Sunday LJ Smith chips in every now and then at the TE spot with some nice production.

The problem is nt his WR's i think Mcnabb is good enough to make stars out of average receivers . But he will be healthy for how long that s the question ( 5 games or 10 games , it s obvious he will miss games again " That s McNabb" )

just grab a top backup - was able to land Eli and Losman so I feel like I have a good insurance policy if the ride come to an abrubt halt! While healthy I expect top 5 numbers?

He didn't cool off last year, he just go hurt. He was far and away the best QB in the league before the injury.

That being said, no he's not 100% yet. Westbrook is his #1 reciever and he's healthy.

nygiants56: if you watched an eagles game in your life as an impartial observer you'd know that dunny doesn't scamble much anyway(especially in the last few years). He's mobile enough to get out of the pocket but only to give more time for him and his recievers.

I mean he's no Eli, I know but he's an extremely productive QB. There are only 3 maybe 4 QBs I'd rather start over him; The good Manning, Palmer, Brees and Brady.

Agree. I targeted McNabb this year and think he will be huge when he's playing - the question is obviously how long will he play. We have very small rosters in my league so I generally don't carry a 2nd QB but I was able to get Big Ben late. Pretty happy with that combo.

He was impressive on a horrible schedule last season. He was Top 3 IIRC before he was hurt. Donte Stallworth NOT Equal Kevin Curtis

Donte was a leader in DROPPED PASSES

Donte was a leader in poor blocking

Donte was a leader in wrong routes

Donte is physically gifted with size and speed. Curtis has speed and drive and determination. He is a dogged fighter who never gives up. (the opposite of R Moss in that category).

McNabb might not have the spectular start of the season he had last year simply because they won't require that of him. The easy schedule will be a major part of that.

I liked Donte, but he was a mistake in Philly. Thus they let him walk.

As a Philly homer, I've seen each Eagle pre-season game & I haven't been impressed at all (NOTE: I'm not an Eagles fan, so take this FWIW).

McNabb has looked fine & I think he's as healthy as he could possibly be after his injuries over the past few years. His weapons aren't great, with his best option still being Westbrook followed closely by Brown...but, as somebody said above, he'll make do.

...BUT, his offensive line isn't deep at all. In fact, the backup O-line looks horrendous and WILL get somebody hurt. So, if the starting O-line stays healthy, McNabb should be OK; if any part of the O-line gets hurt, I predict that McNabb will follow suit.

This said, I predict Kevin Kolb as the Eagles' QB by mid-season.

I love how you keep throwing that out there like it matters. Lets see how that breaks down. 8 seasons. Rookie season where he didn't play even half a years worth of snaps. First full year, 21 tds. But he also ran for 6. Next year, 25 and 2. The next year was 17 and 6 in an injury shortened season. 2003 was his only "bad" year, but 16 and 3 aren't horrible. 2004, 31 and 3. 2005 and 2006 were shortened by injuries but he was an elite FF qb both years prior to injury. There's no way Cutler or Leinart will be near McNabb, barring injury. And they're just as likely to be injured.

The days of great OL depth are over - it is very rare to have quality OL depth - weapons are better than last year IMO when McNabb led the league. Looks like there will be detractors all year.

He will put up elite numbers this year if he can stay healthy.

The bottom line is that Andy Reid loves to throw the ball.

McNabb is healthy from what I have seen in the pre-season (I have watched both games that he played).

His receiving core doesn't matter - he loved to spread out the ball.

Behind Manning, I think McNabb has a good chance at being the #2 fantasy QB.

His injury history is some concern - but a lot of it has been flukey type stuff.

Being in a draft with other Eagles fans I would not be suprised if

McNabb went as the 3rd selected QB (Behind Manning and Palmer)

a. healthy enough to be a dominant fantasy player, yes b. this crop of WRs is the best McNabb has EVER had If he's not an "elite fantasy option" this year and he's healthy, it will be the first time in his CAREER he isn't. Bet against him at your peril.

In my scoring systems, he was QB1.

That's exactly what I said when they traded for him last year. Curtis will be an upgrade.

Yeah, like in 2003, when McNabb averaged a red-hot 142 yards per game with 3 TDs and 7 INTs over his first 7 games… and an ice-cold 247 yards per game with with 14 TDs and 4 INTs over the last 9 games.

i havent seen a McNabb/Eagles thread this week, although it has been touched on in other threads. But in general, did week 1 change your opinion of the Eagles/McNabb/Westy? Was that just the product of a great D in GB? Is he healthy?

Home opener on MNF this week. Curious to see which way the wind is blowing for the pool with respect to their Eagles opinions.

I drafted him, Romo and Campbell (yeah, all NFC East as it turned out) in a redraft league and plan to start McNabb and then trade him after 5-7 weeks to bolster my relatively weak WR corps. McNabb's points per game is usually off the charts while he's healthy, so I'm assuming that he'll revert to form and start putting up some big numbers. FWIW he usually puts up some pretty strong numbers against the Redskins.
