Is footballguys.com worth the $25? (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Before I plopped down $25 I wanted to know if the site is worth it... is it better than espn's, si, kffl, and all those other sites?

See my sig for a link to a list of our content. I'm biased of course. I'll let our customers tell you what they think.

:banned:

hell yes! 30,000 pages of content. custom cheatsheets, draft/lineup dominator, strength of schedule, matchups, game recaps, college football coverage, trade advice.

FREE message boards (best on the 'net), FREE news blogger, FREE podcasts.

Well worth it every year!

yes, everybody from newbies to seasoned "experts" pay the 25...well worth it regardless of your level of expertise.

I don't think there are many things I spend money on that I get as much enjoyment out of then the $25 I spend on this site every year.

Granted, I think a lot of it comes from this board and not just the content. But in my eyes it's a package deal.

Honestly it's a MASSIVE bargain!

I don't have time to read all the stuff they bring out each week. It's too much. I love it. This is my first yr subscribing. I don't necessarily agree with all the rankings etc they put out, but the great thing is if you want an explanaition there's usually a staff member on the forums that is prepared to explain their reasoning. Grade A site.

I havent seen any site that offers more info, is more customizable, or has a more informed staff than this one. This comes from one who had strong loyalties to another site based on many years there. Especially if you are an IDP player, but even without that, it isn't even close. I may have to change my screen name at that other site now.... :bag:

Subscriber contest= $25

30,000 pages of content= $25

First-rate preseason reports= $25

Draft Dominator= $25x your # of leagues

The depth of knowledge and quality of discussion on these boards= Priceless

Is it worth $25 for the membership in my eyes? You do the math!

*** Great tools: Lineup Dominator and draft Dominator (same tool for the most part)

*** Good preseason rankings

*** great job with emailing ff news, and analyzing it

*** great articles

I would never pay for FF advise from a site like ESPN or any other site that does not specialize in FF, with that said I have gotten a free subscription to another site that is very compartible, has better projections and weekly statistics, but not the great tools.

The site is great! It is worth the $25 and then some. It would be nice to see the owners comment more on the boards and interact more. And when they do comment don't comment so Politically correct that it makes me puke. Get back to the nuts and the bolts, interact and open up with the subscribers.

Your Loyal Paying Customer and Advocate,

Brewtown

I got in last year because I found the forums useful. I

like to do my own analysis. Even so, I've found that the draft dominator

did calculations for me that I had to do a lot earlier in the season in order

to be done by draft day, so I was able to go into the draft

with more up to date projections. In addition they quantified a theory about

value base drafting that I had thought about but wasn't able to put into numbers

("Dodds secret formula"). The bottom line is that I'm 6-0 in my "big money" league

(Past performance doesn't gaurantee future results). The subscriber contest

fills my need for a little aux. action.

Worth it.

:goodposting: That's the best thing about the site IMO - there's so much expert material on here that competitors don't have, but if you're a co-dependent moron incapable of processing any information independently, Footballguys still takes care of you better than anyone else.

Magic 8 Head is why I subscribe.

Investment decisions, marriage decisions, whether to choose the glazed or jelly donut... All the big decisions I make any more are ruled by the Magic 8 Head. As it says at the site: "Magic 8 Head - Uncanny 83% success rate."

Too bad the marriage decision fell into the other 17%, but hey, you can't have everything.

i won't tell on you rovers. i just enjoy the newsblogger and boards, but next yr i may join this site as well or maybe only here (ending a long allegiance over there).

I didnt pay for this year (this is my first year for FFL), but I definately will in the future...its been worth it to me so far and I dont even have access to the premium stuff....

I read the boards srupulously, use the draft dominator relgiously (though not blindly) and peruse the cheatsheets and other info daily. I am currently 1st in 2 leagues and 2nd in another. In the top 2 in points in all 3. If I finish 3rd or better in any of the 3 leagues I do no worse than quadruple my investment. Very, very worth it.

Yes, but any information is still no better than the end user.
True dat, but i honestly believe we provide one of the best resources for you to get information - and I think our guys are some of the best at giving guidance.Do NOT follow us blindly. You certainly can do that and be a competitive fantasy player, but I think we are a site designed to provoke thought - not to do the thinking for you.We can help you improve your analytical skills regarding fantasy matters, but we expect you to use those skills to improve as a fantasy player. My selling point for FBGuys.com is this:I subscribed four years ago, and promptly won my big $$ league back to back (first back to back winner of the league. I also appeared in an unprecedented third straight super bowl (though I lost that game). I lost that game to our commissioner - who I had given a free FBG subscription that year. He then won our league back to back (second win was last year). Last year in the Super Bowl, he faced another league mate who I convinced to sign up.In short, in that league, the Super Bowl winner and loser of the last two Super Bowls were FBGuy.com subscribers, and the winner of the last four Super Bowls has been a FBGuy.com subscriber.'nuff said.

Yes this is the best site out there. PERIOD.

ESPN and websites like that are not based on Fantasy Football they incorporate it but footballguys.com is the 100% pure fantasy football nothing else - that is all they do.

Hell no, this site is NOT worth $25 a year and that's what I tell every one of my opponents.

I'm in an 8 year keeper league and a few years ago our perennial doormat owner was walking by me on draft day and noticed my draft day papers and the top one had FBG's written on it. He said to me, "Value based drafting?" After he said that my jaw dropped because I was amazed he knew about it and thought he had discovered some new tricks and would become a fierce competitor. Then he said, "Yeah, I looked at that and I wasn't going to pay the $20 (back then)." Let's just say I was immensely happy after he said that. Now, I go to draft day and every single mention of FBG's is blacked out with permanent magic marker. No way in hell is my secret getting out so sorry Joe and guys, no advertising here!

As someone who spends an inordinate amount of time processing football information, I would also have to agree.

I don't subscribe to FBG, but it's only because I prefer to do the labor myself and derive my own opinions. If you are too lazy, which mostly everyone is.... their "cheatsheets" and other data and random sets of factoids are the equivalent of a few dozen people like me that pool their knowledge together and never sleep.

So, if you want that kind of dedication year-round for $25, I say it's a worthwhile investment.

If you are in a money league, and have a real job (unlike me, who is in college), then I think you'd be stupid not to dance in this website's products.

I tend to tell people it's not worth it...... to keep the knowledge 'in house' as much as possible......

People know that I use it and ask how it is and I just say, "You know they have a staff and some cheatsheets and rankings" - that way they think they're better off saving the money and using free information...... bwahahaha

If you have more than a passing interest in fantasy football, you have no excuse not to part with the pocket change.

I am here every day from July to February.

Here's what you need:

subscription to footballguys

league website

fantasysportscentral.com (daily planner)

nfl.com

That's it.

:football:

Is it worth it if you are paying $30 to join a league that has a total pot of $100-$200? Probably not.

Is it worth it if you are in high stakes FF? Probably so

i was not impressed to be honest i would not buy i again you can get as much info off the boards as you need for free

worst case it gives me something to read at work everyday.

This is our 14th season and I wish I found this place before last year :)

If you are new to the hobby FBG can be a priceless education.

If you are a vet who knows it all FBG can make you rethink a position or an opinion and that can be very valuable as well IMO.

Personally, I get the most use from the preseason content but I never stray too far during the season.

One of the things I like so much about FBG is the way they adapt their content based on users requests. A few years ago Dynasty and IDP content was not that great. After a lot of people showed interest the new IDP and Dynasty stuff is the best on the web IMO. I am a founding member of the Bloom for President club. He knows his stuff, and frankly, I can't watch all the clips and games he does so I rely on him to get me the info I need for my rookie drafts. And Bloom was a message board guy providing great info long before Joe and David got smart and brought him on board. I don't mean to single out one staff member (or make Mr. Bloom blush.) but this is just a great example of why this site continues to be the leader. They don't just sit back and rest on their laurels, they continue to bring us great stuff...

The boards are an added bonus. They are free but obviously supported by the paid content. I feel my money is well spent just supporting the boards.

I've said this before, the one drawback of FBG for me is that it has made me lazy. I don't do my own projections anymore and I don't spend anywhere near as much time scouring the web for info. I come to the FBG buffet and load up my plate. There is no doubt that the info here is top notch but any staff member will tell you that what they offer is a tool, you still need to do the work and make the decisions. But for a small amount of cash you get a lot of help IMO.

the tools like draft dominator are worth it.

the analysis is only worth it if you are a n00b.
