Is footballguys.com worth the $25? (1 Viewer)

I'm curious about the Draft Dominator. Is it really as good as advertised? What "edge" does the Dominator give to you? To me, FF is so unpredictable that I don't see how any predictions can be accurate. Also, doesn't the Dominator take away the "fun" factor. To me, the draft day is usually the highlight of the season. I think I'd be a little let down if I had a program making all of my picks.

FYI - I'm currently not a suscriber, but plan on subscribing before next season.

Think of it as having a really smart buddy with you at the draft. It doesn't make your picks, just makes some pretty smart suggestions. But ultimately, you're going to have to draft the guy you really want.

and as with ALL predictive machines, it is only as good as the input. We STRONGLY encourage you to take our projections as a guideline and a starting point - not as gospel.

The DD works WAY WAY better for YOU if it has YOUR input - go in and alter our projections to numbers you arenmore comfortable with.

Of course, if you simply don't have the time (one of the reasons to USE the DD is that it is all there for ya effortlessly), you may choose to use our projections - if you do so, howeverm, it is hard to blame us when a player bombs out (the dreaded Kevan Barlow fiasco a couple years ago, for instance.

I actually do what the DD does, but I can do it in my head - all I need is my FBG.com cheatsheets that I have manipulated with my own numbers and a sheet of paper where I jot down what positions other teams have selected, and I can FIND the best pick by calculating what is left and what other folks need. It is one of the things that keeps my attention in the draft.

This past year, I not only kept track of what all the other teams were doing, and I not only kept up with crossing off players who were chosen, I was also the draft crier ("Team smlevin chooses Ladanian Tomlinson, on the clock Team pinequick"

And i had people asking me "who was the last pick" "who's up now" "how long do they have left" "is Shaun Alexander gone?" - and I was still able to dominate my draft.

Sorry, bit of a hijack there.

It's worth $40, but luckily, they only charge $26 so they saved me $14 to take my wife out to make up for paying for FootballGuys.com. Everyone wins.
So how was McDonald's?
Wow. What at McD's cost $14? We actually rarely eat fast food. Here in NC, my wife usually can get whatever she orders for about $15 (for her half), unless we splurge and go somewhere fancy, but with a baby on the way, we have to save what we can. Around here, though, the best we have is a couple of steakhouses (Outback, Longhorn, Texas Roadhouse), Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays, etc and a couple of local favorites along with the usual fast food joints that are rarely visited unless we need the quick fix. Luckily I found a good woman that isn't high maintenance, easy to please, enjoys sports and loves football. :thumbup:Sorry for the derail. To get back on topic, my wife also thinks that the site is worth it.

I think someone needs a pat on the back. IMO, the $25 is not worth it, I can get all the info I need on all the websites/forums combined. Now to pat myself on the back. In the playoffs every year, super bowl past two, and never once bought a subscription. The free and accurate info is out there for you if you just know where to look. Google is your friend.

Draft Dominator alone is worth the $25!

I used it this year for the 4 leagues I am in to help me with my draft.

5-1, 3-3, 3-3, 6-0

The 3-3 leagues I have just had the bad luck of running into the high points scorer of the week! The 5-1 I am clearly dominating this league but had a lower then normal performance and the other team scored WAY above their average. The 6-0 league is the funny one. It is the only league I am in with IDP. We had a live draft but we only did half the roster. These guys are all spread around the country and there are 12 teams, each with 28 roster spots. Anyway, we had these open waiver periods to select the rest of our team and with less then a week until kick off I finally found some free time to select the rest of my team, basically all the IDP's. I use DD alone for this and just selected the top IDP's that DD told me too. Well 6-0 aint too shabby!!!!
Yeah, the 3-3 is bad luck, but the 5-1 and 6-0 are all skill. :lmao:

So, you can't do it in your head.

tiger fan and i crushed our wcoff draft with only pen and paper, and probably 3 of the teams in our league used the draft dominator.

bottom line, you are a good drafter with or without the DD, and are a bad drafter with or without the DD.

how is FBG.com doing in WCOFF?
Does this info really matter considering what tools are being offered?
you don't think it matters if the product that a company uses itself in a draft turns out horribly?who are you going to subscribe to? a fantasy service who traditionally does extremely well in the cream of the crop fantasy event, or a fantasy service who struggles?if i subscribed i would want to know how FBG did in the leagues it played in representing itself. if the track record isn't there, i would think twice. then again if the track record was steller it would make me want to subscribe more.it is completely relevant IMO.

Yes it's worth it just for the Draft Dominator.

I used to put stats in excel and tweak them for the following year, the time DD saves is worth more. That's the only thing I really use. I find the game summaries to be okay. not enough info a lot of times. I won't be signing up next year, just because I'm getting a little tired of FF.

I love doing the the research myself also...but I have a family and a job and need to get a couple of hours of sleep each night, so I am willing to pay a subscription to have most of the information/tools at one site.

Well worth it, especially if you get in before the start of draft season.

I think somebody hit the nail on the head when they said the Draft Dominator alone is worth the $25. The more drafts you're in, the better.

Isn't posting this question on a FBG message board kind of asking a pilot, in mid flight, whether the plane is safe?

Just an observation. Topics that reflect FBG in a negative light get moved to the Free For All, or are simply deleted. For example, the many topics that deal with information being released the day after we are told to expect it. Since this topic really isn't a football topic, shouldn't it face the same demise?

Sorry, I was thinking the two of you. ( You do buy something for yourself, I hope). Even so, me and the missus can't get out of Outback for less than $40. Must look into retiring to NC.

Naw, I was referring to the portion for her part. But it's not like I actually just had $40 and decided to spend it on FBG and dinner for wife. I didn't expect to be taken literal. But yeah, I'm lucky if I get out of Outback for under $40. Even around here. Luckily, the prime rib and ribeye steaks are just as good, if not better at other places not called Outback that are less expensive.

My $0.02..

This is my first year in FF so I looked for different sites. My buddy uses fantasyguru.com because all his buddies use thehuddle.com. Well I was at his place and we compared fantasyguru/thehuddle and FBG.

There is no comparison FBG is great !!! The timely emails and all the content, it's a pretty Capt Obvious...

As you can see, I got in after the draft. I started 0-3 and am now 3-3. I'll be 4-3 after next week, the guy I'm playing has 6 on bye in wk 7...obviously not an FBG'er.Its worth it right now!
