After Randy Meuller was fired in May 2002, Jim Haslett had the last word on talent evaluation. Head scout Rick Meuller (Randy's brother) also had a huge amount of input. Loomis's expertise was in cap management, not in talent evaluation ... so most fans pointed fingers at Haslett when disappointed with recent draft picks.
The Bears have drafted Curtis Enis, Cade McNown, David Terrell, Rex Grossman, Michael Haynes and Cedric Benson in recent years in Round One. The only two worth a flip are Urlacher and Tommie Harris.
