The people in the finals can do whatever they want w/the money, so long as they agree on it. Those not in the finals no longer have any claim on prize money, how it is split, or how it is spent.

My main league is a winner-take-all, and I think it's kind of dumb to have so much riding on the outcome of a single fantasy matchup. It would really suck to lose by 1 point because your QB pulls a McNair and gets knocked out of his game on the first drive without recording any stats. There's a lot of luck involved in FF and I want to hedge the risk. So, I offered my Championship opponent a split deal, I offered 75-25 instead of 100-0. Sucks to play the whole year, get unlucky at the wrong time, and have nothing to show for it. I mean, I went 11-3 (beating LT owner twice) to get to the Bowl, he's 9-4-1, and we're pretty evenly matched in terms of roster and projections for this week... just seems silly that the runner up gets nada while the other guy plays the next 10 seasons for free with everyone else's money.
This is pretty much exactly how I feel. Good summary. To be honest, I'm a little surprised the "Some sort of split is OK, as long as the winner is still getting most of the money" option is trailing behind so much. I think it would bug me if there was a 50/50 split, even though I can't quite put my finger on why.
Well to me the wording of 1 and 2 are pretty much the same except a 50/50 is also ok.I personally have done the 60/40 thing a couple times but usually don't. Don't prefer a 50/50 but ALL I CARE ABOUT is my name on that TROPHY, the trophy presentation and It sitting on my table for all to see when they come over :confused:One for the thumb this year!!!!!

For those few arguing against splitting the money, remember also what time of year it is. That prize money if paid early is "Momma don't know" money that I can use to buy her a surprise present. Otherwise the money comes after Christmas.

In one of my bigger $ leagues, my opponent and I have agreed to put $50 aside for the winneer and split the rest. My team is much stronger then his, but I'd rather have that secret cash now. If I win as I expect, It'll cost me about $150, but the bragging rights will make up for it

A very good friend of mine and I are in the finals of our FF league. The split is $400/$200. Since neither one of us will have to declare bankruptcy if we lose I suggested that we split the money (50-50) - take our girlfriends out for supper (their choice) and then the 4 of us would go shopping with whatever was left over and buy presents for the local "Santas Anonymous".

We picked up the ladies after work and they said that they would direct us to their chosen restaurant. You can imagine our surprise when they directed us to turn in at a "McDonalds". We asked them if this was some kind of a joke. They replied "No, and we're buying". Half an hour later we were on our way to "Toys-R-Us". Two hours later we had spent the whole $600 ($604.87 actually) and had a great time doing it.

So as you can see splitting worked out just fine for us and yes we will be taking the ladies out for a "real" supper on friday - they just don't know it yet.

P.S. I still plan on giving that lowdown filthy rotten scumbag the trouncing that he so richly deserves.

No chopping -- the money is handed out based on league rules only [ 54 ] [22.50%]

Amazing what LT2 will do for greedy, high-horse riding players :goodposting:

I'm in a league championship where an additional $500 is at stake (after $150 won for each of the first two round victories.) And since I have LT2, I also won the total points and highest scoring player pots. So I'm up about $450 on the season, but I'm also o-fer in my 7+ years of FF when it comes to championship games. So I offered my opponent a 70/30 split, and he's mulling it over.

It's easy to say you wouldn't do it BEFORE the game is played and something like LT2 regressing to the mean happens. But if you lose, and in some cases wind up with $0 to show for it, I bet a lot of those 54 voters would want to change their vote.

I think the no chop people are mostly chest beating and either lying or not thinking it through. Most people have no problem with chopping, once the stakes get to a certain point.

Winner $5, loser 0- very few people chop.

Winner $5 Million, loser 0- almost everyone either chops or makes a split. (Both get a million, play for the other 3).

This is why tournament poker players chop all the time, and even cash games players will lay odds, offer insurance, run the river twice, etc. They are willing to reduce some of the risk involved. The people playing for the pot get to split it however they choose if they agree.

The real people in the equation lacking "insert word for attributes of masculinity here" are the whining bystanders. If you don't like deals, make it to the end, and then say "No deals." Otherwise, keep your mouth shut and leave the trash talking to the people still good enough to still be playing.
