Wore Sanucks to work today (as I have every day this week) and had a meeting with the CEO of a billion dollar company. We sat on the same stuff of the conference table causing me to pull away from the take and face him with my ankle over my knee and I caught him staring at my bare ankles incredulously a few times.

I think he understood when we ran into my boss' boss on the way out and he was wearing an untucked shirt and mardi gras beads.

Instead of wearing flip flops just wear the slippers you wear around the house. It's less feminine, more respectable, and more comfortable.

Men shouldn't be wearing flip-flops to work unless they work on or near the beach.

It's much easier for women to get away with this.
Couldn't agree more. Have some self respect and put on a pair of shoes.
Unfortunately it's long past that. Pretty soon the flip-flop wearing guys will want to paint their nails.
Sounds like someone has hideous feet. Don't harbor jealousy against us pretty feet guys. It's no more our fault than it is the sun's fault for shining so bright.

Anyone else find it entertaining that the unemployed guy with Tourette's who's never worked in an office environment is, by far, the leading poster in a "what's appropriate in the workplace" thread?

Sanuks are awesome and are >>> flip flops.

I couldn't get away with them in my office but I'd have no problem with guys wearing them if it were acceptable.

When I worked for a financial company a few years back in NYC, the dress code didn't allow flip flops so I wore slippers instead. So comfy. I wore sneakers or flip flops for the commute and then switched into the slippers when I got there. God, I love programming jobs.

Yeah, there is a giant different between Sanuks and flip-flops. It's like the difference between board shorts and a speedo.

Actually, I think I have great looking feet. Straight and proportional. Nothing gnarly. My wife thinks I should get a pedicure but that ain't happening.

Board shorts at work. Yes or No?

No. I wasn't talking about wearing either to work...unless you are a lifeguard.

I checked my business cards. It doesn't say lifeguard.

My company just authorized shorts for the first time in company history. The dress code expressly forbids flip-flops. I haven't heard a single complaint about it.

I voted no.

I didn't read most of the thread. I'm an attorney in Manhattan and I simply can't endorse any scenario where any person wears flip flops to their job. Period.
