Reminds me of George Costanza and the Timberlands :lmao:

As for the upcoming online date, I say wear it. Online dating is normally just a smash and grab so best to fake it. Chances are it wont amount to anything meaningful. Also a good chance she cancels last minute.
Not everyone's looking for the smash and grab though, especially as you get older.

If OP really wants to get the answer to this question he should ask some females which would shed a lot more light on this then a bunch of middle aged men

I agree but the majority of people on dating apps are (women for sugar daddies, men for sex). This isn't the same idating game it was back in 2002. I think it's better he plays the field for a bit, takes on some ground balls and a little batting practice before heading to the majors. A good toupee will help his confidence and game. It could also lead to some hilarious stories.

And more importantly, it's generally a bad idea to ask women their advice on dating. They'll tell you to be a nice guy who leads with honesty and other nonsense. As they say, you want to ask a fisherman how to fish. Don't ask a fish.
sounds like you need some female friends.
I’ve got plenty of female friends. They’re worse than guys when it comes to superficial dating.

I would never wear one. I believe if you're balding to the extent where you have hair on the side, but not on top, then shave the head completely. I think that looks better than the reverse mowhawk. I'm 66 and lost most of my hair I had on top in the last two years. I now keep my entire head a close cut. It helps that my hair is white, so the hair on the side and not on top doesn't look as bad as a dark haired person.

Haven't really been following this thread too closely but got the gist of the OP and a few of the subsequent replies... I'll say this: I thought that "bald" (like shaving your head if you've already lost a lot of your hair) was kind of an "in" thing. In my day-to-day, I see a lot of guys with completely shaven heads, many of them with beards.

For me, I have a full head of hair but it's gone completely gray. I keep it pretty short (#1 on the sides/back and "finger length" on top) so it isn't as noticeable. It ends up looking "blond-ish". My beard has also gone gray and if I grow it out I do tend to color it, especially if I'm going to be in the company of the fairer sex for any amount of time. That said, I've been shaving the beard down to "stubble" and rockin' the 'stache. I should probably color it even if it's just the 'stache. Sorry for the tangent.

Update: They met on Friday, played mini-golf and got some Ice-cream. He did wear the toupee and things went well enough they are planning on a second date.

He's in it now...

Minigolf and ice cream? sounds like Daniel Laruso is trying to woo Ali. Good for him though. Hope it works out!
Apparently dinner and a movie is "outdated".

Meeting up for coffee is also hit or miss as the younger generations don't drink coffee like the older gens did.

Mini-Golf and ice-cream sounds like a nice time actually.

Can't talk and get to know someone during a movie. Save that for a later date.

Have to know your audience when deciding on coffee or drinks.

Yep. I was always a coffee or drinks guy for a first date but mini golf sounds kind of fun. Movies are a horrible idea because you cannot interact.

Minigolf type activities would be several dates in for me after we handled our business and more comfortable with each other. Drinks whether cocktails, smoothies or coffee first. The dinner and a movie thing died decades ago.

He should wear the toupee. All of his profile pics had it so not wearing it would be similar to showing up 50 pounds heavier than your pics. If the relationship lasts, at some point he needs to come clean which could still be problematic. If he wants to be fully honest from the start, his profile should include at least one picture of himself without the toupee. But I assume he just wants dates/getting laid so 100% commit to the deceit.

First dates should ALWAYS just be drinks only, at night, at the bar of a cool restaurant with good atmosphere and people watching.

You don’t even know this person…if not feeling it, then one drink and politely say good night. Save the dinners and activities for dates 2+ after you know you actually like them.

You’re welcome all single dudes in here.
