Is it the week they give D Williams the start over Foster. (1 Viewer)

I mean what does it take for Fox to come to the conclusion that Foster is worthless and on top cant hold on to the ball .

They are pretty much out of the playoff picture and have zero QB ( I would say less then zero QB ) so why dont you give a chance to the kid to see what he can do ( It might be unfair cause he will face 8-9 man in the box , they dont need to cover the receivers my grandmother can throw better then any of their QB )

But still Foster has been playing so bad the last few weeks the kid deserve a chance .

Any homers heard anything .......

Its the same as its always been in Carolina. Back 3-4 years ago (maybe more?), Steven Davis was the starter...got 20+ carries for 2-3 yds per carry avg. and never replaced as the starter despite putting up lousy stats every game. They'd bring in Deshawn Foster about 5 carries or so a game to give Davis a break and Foster avg.'d over 5yds per carry and appeared to be a much better RB than Davis. Everyone was screaming "why don't they start Foster???" Now Foster is the starter and not getting the job done and everyone is wondering why they don't start Williams? Well I am a Williams owner in a dynasty league and would love to see him named the starter. However, I seriously doubt Williams will become a stud in Carolina offense if started.

Lessons learned: Stay clear of Carolina RB's.

First of all, that happened only one season. Second, that season is has undergone some serious revisionist history.

And while Steven Davis did remain the "starter" by title, I think it might help if we....

Review some facts:

2005 Carolina RB stats

Foster's carries: 205 in 15 games

Steven Davis' carries: 180 in 14 games

After the bye in week 7, Foster earned more and more carries and Davis received fewer. But their YPC reversed. Foster's declined and Davis' increased, which isn't unusual.

Also, after that bye week until Davis got hurt,

Foster averaged 14.7 carries per game to Davis' 10.8.

And even in the first five games of the season, Foster averaged 8 carries (after his less than remarkable rookie season). It's not like he wasn't touching the ball.

Foster started seeing the Lion's Share of the carries after the bye week and Davis' role significantly dropped throughout the year. But it wasn't like Foster really proved his fanatics correct. The majority of the games where he received the bulk of the carries, he averaged less than 4 YPC. Not good and not much better than Davis was doing.

While John Fox does not seem to ever produce an elite FF RB, the argument that he always plays the less-talented veteran while letting the phenomenal rookie toil in the wind is unfounded.
