Personally - time to let the past go. He lead the Pack to the Super Bowl twice, many wins, and was as much fun to watch (or as frustrating) as any player ever. Bring him back and share the love

edit - to clarify, this poll is not about bringing him back to play, but bringing him in for Packer Alumni events, etc., when they bring back other great players. Back into the fold of the larger Packer community

Brett Favre will enter the HOF as Brett Favre. He won't have a helmet or jersey on his bust, and every team he played for will be listed on his plaque.

The friction between the GB organization and Favre has been long enough that they should let bygones be bygones. It's Favre's sending pictures of his "junk" that may need a few more years to let the heat die down.

Probably should wait until he's officially retired and when officially I mean after the season is over. I could see him making a mid season appearance for a desperate team.

I think the team has already moved on.

Have Brett and Thompson moved on enough on their own for it all to come together yet?

Doubt it.

I'll forgive him when there isn't any NFL news about him for a year. I think that's very generous of me considering he played for the Vikings.http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i79/adrenaline1/image001.jpg
Tell Rich Eisen this...he's not happy unless he's stirring up some Favre crap.

Right. It was Gil Brant with the latest a couple of days ago, just when I thought it might finally be over.

Back to grab some publicity from the reigning world champs? Um, no.

brett the cheater tiger woods part ii should go into the hall of shame wearing a big scarlet a around his neck and then probably should have a street named after him like mccarthy and holmgren and Lombardi except it should be in downtown cleveland and named jerkface lane

It's not time for the Pack and Favre to "make up" until Favre actually goes through a whole NFL season without being on a roster. Until then, I'm assuming that the dude will play another season.

There was a thread last year with some mention along this line and I said I think a couple years after Brett is out of the public eye and has been gone from the NFL (For real) the two sides will make up and Brett will go into the HOF as a Packer, as it should be.

If he retires and does not play this year, then this year should be about the Super Bowl win. There should be one year in between retirement and retiring of his number. Allow the Super Bowl team to have their year and not have the legacy of Favre hovering over it. Unless the Packers are like 7-8 going into the last game of the season and out of the playoff hunt.

Screw Favre. It's one thing to want to continue to play but it's another to be a 10 year old crybaby spending two years trying to get on the Vikings just to stick it to GB. He can go wear purple.

I think inevitably it will happen, but it's just too soon, and probably will be for a couple more years. Had Farvee been side by side with Starr and others during superbowl week, the healing process may have started. But instead he chose to hide out in his Mississippi compound. 'Nuff said.

Real packer fans never had a problem with Favre moving on, just the want A bee packer come lately fans had a problem
When he went the Jets you may be right. When he lied saying he was retiring (from NY) and then sent his medical records to Minnesota the very next day you are wrong.

Real packer fans never had a problem with Favre moving on, just the want A bee packer come lately fans had a problem
couldn't be further from the truth
Real, whiny, immature, childish Packer fans always had a problem with Favre moving on. Real Packer fans never did have a problem.
couldn't be further from the truth
Care to elaborate further? Because right now your stance seems ridiculous at best.

My mother is a long time season ticket holder...was at the Ice Bowl with my Grandfather (who had the tickets before my mother since the place opened). She was not happy with him being in Minnesota.Plenty of "real" Packer fans had a problem with the way things went down.Anyone stating its all one way or the other are completely full of it.

I know Packer fans like this too and it never made a lick of sense to me. The Packers didn't want Favre. They traded him. So why shouldn't he be allowed to play for the team of his choice? He wanted to get back to the Super Bowl and the Vikings clearly presented him with a great opportunity to achieve that goal. Why should he choose a lesser option merely to make Packer fans happy? It never bothered me that he played for Minnesota because it was clear the Packers didn't want him anymore and so he should be allowed to play where ever he wanted. To reply to the OP's post, yes it's time for both sides to make up. It won't happen this season but hopefully it happens in 2012. Favre is a Packer legend and he has earned the right to be honored as such. This is an organization that has bestowed a lot of platitudes on far lesser players (check out the team's HOF list sometime for many examples). Favre should be welcomed back with open arms and his greatness remembered always.

I think the issue is not so much he went to another team, but that he was just always a freaking prima donna about playing or not playing.

Having said that, I am passed the issue - We won a super bowl, so his hijinks just don't seem so irritating any more.

The best revenge is living well, and we won the super bowl without him. Doesnt get better than that

The retirement stuff got old but all I cared about was whether he could play well and he was outstanding for the Packers. His last season with Green Bay, he played at an MVP level. That's all that mattered to me. The Packers have moved on and obviously did very well last season. The future looks bright. That seems to me to be the ideal time to remember the greatness of Favre's past.

I know very few "real" Packer fans who cared at all. Sure, they thought he was a nutjob and a baby, but most didn't really care. I know a ton of wannaby fans who pissed and moaned the past couple years about Favre. Literally couldn't stop obsessing about him. Maybe it's different when you come from GB. Most of the people there are far more focused on who is actually on the roster.

It was the way in which it happened I guess. That he wanted to go there as far back as before he was ever traded. It was his "stick it to TT" attitude that some don't take this way, but many took it as sticking it to the Packers and their fans (because that is what happens if he sticks it to TT).It was in how much his family talked crap about the organization as well. And its hard for people to let go frankly. The guy was a huge part of the team and for the fans for years. Now seeing him in one of the most hated rival's uniforms sucked.

I come from Menasha...not far from GB, 6 tickets in my family. My family all lives there. Was a large part of that stadium just "wannaby"s when he was booed upon returning?I just laugh at any who want to question who is a real Packer fan because they may have had a different opinion on Favre leaving than others.Id far more question those people who openly cheered for the Vikings against the Packers because of Favre...than those who cheered for their team over a rival and disliked seeing #4 in purple.

So blame the Packers. They were the ones who traded Favre. When it became clear the Packers no longer wanted him he simply wanted to go to a Super Bowl contender which is hardly something people should be upset about in my opinion. It just so happened the one team that clearly needed a QB to reach the Super Bowl happened to be the Vikings. Them's the breaks. Yeah, he acted badly at times during that mess. Thompson did too. I don't think either side "won." It was ugly, unnecessary and tarnished both sides. But Favre's now retired (yes I believe he's done playing) and the Packers are Super Bowl champs. Seems to me that holding onto any anger or bitterness is petty at this point. Favre is a Packers legend and deserves to be treated and honored as such. If a couple of years of discord is enough to cause people to lose sight of that, I think that's pretty unfortunate. The Packers wouldn't be in the position they are today were it not for Favre and all of the key figures of the Wolf/Holmgren era. They laid the groundwork and paved the way for what the team became and remains to this day. It's time to bury the anger and welcome back Favre to Green Bay. Like I said, I don't expect it to happen this season but I believe it should happen in 2012. I can't think of a better way to open the season at Lambeau than to welcome back Favre and honor him for all the greatness Packers fans were fortunate enough to see during his time in Green Bay.

I'd like to know how a guy can run around the Appleton Mall in a Viking Favre jersey and not get tarred and feathered. (I saw it last September when I was up there.)

Plenty did blame both for how it went down.I don't think many blamed the guy for wanting to still play...it was the manner in which he (and to many how the Packers) handled the situation. And then ending up in purple. As for who "won". I think right now, Thompson has the ring and the edge. His way turned out to work pretty well as did his hand picked QB.I don't know how many hold on to any bitterness at this point...but still coming off the last year, it might take another year.Im with whoever earlier said let this year be about the Super Bowl team and not Brett. And I agree that he should be honored in 2012 or so.As I said earlier, depends if he and TT are big enough to put the other crap behind them.

This is one of the stupider comments I've read for a while. I suppose real Packers fans don't dislike the Vikings either huh? :lmao: 27 years a Packers fan here.

There were so many fans who got all riled up at the team mgmt because Favre was traded.....or became enraged that Favre was playing elsewhere....but the true fans didn't care about any of that. Know why? Because a true fan cares about the current (at a point in time) Packer roster more than anything else. I don't care which free agents leave -- once they leave, I automatically care less about them than whoever replaces them in the starting lineup. That's just the way it should be.So was I disappointed that Favre left? Sure. Was I upset that the team traded him? Maybe. Did I have trouble getting over it? Nope, once we hit week 1 that year, it was time to move on.

brett john edwards ii wiener texter favre basically committed a horible crime against the good people of wisconsin like the farmers and small towners who rooted relentlessly for him and even had "4 ever in our hearts" painted on there barns but now that barn says "12 is three times number 4" so you know who the true fans think is bad and that is the guy who went to ny and then beamed pictures of his private parts all of the world and then cheated nyj just so that he could fake out everyone and go to his buddy darell traitor against wi bevell and then stink up the joint and get chilly the family man fired just becuase he would not let brett i'm so great i should be qb and head coach be the decider so basically true fans know who wrecked the legacy and it was not the pack
