Is Julius Jones a Backup? (1 Viewer)

Is Julius Jones a backup or a co-starter?

Trying to figure out how much he plays this week. I always personally waffle between him being the #1b or the #2 RB in Dallas.

Does he benefit from Marion Barber being rested? Or does Tyson thompson benefit from them both being rested.

Obviously, nobody knows with certainty. But if anybody's got any information which shows how the coaching staff may feel about this question, it'd be greatly appreciated.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Cowboys are likely to use Marion Barber sparingly in Week 17 against the Redskins.

Schefter says Dallas is "gun shy" about risking a top weapon after Terrell Owens and Tony Romo's injuries. It sounds like Julius Jones will dominate running back duties instead. CB Terence Newman could also see limited snaps, improving Todd Collins' matchup. This is bad news for the Saints and Vikings, who will be rooting for Dallas to beat Washington on Sunday. Thanks.

What is the feeling on Jones's status for next year? Is he a FA/RFA? Where might he land and is he a starter or destined to be mired in a RBBC for the rest of his career?

Perfect fit for Denver with the zone blocking.

Perfit fit for Denver with the zone blocking.
While I agree...doesn't Denver have a glut of cheap RB's they are satisfied with that they'll more than likely sit on?
It's not like JJ is going to command a high salary. Seattle and Houston could be other teams interested.

I don`t think Jones will be that sought after. Jones is a good #2 Rb to have on the roster.

Chicago makes sense.

They did it with his younger brother. Took him in after he'd flopped elsewhere, and he did good.

Now, is he a backup this season? This Sunday? :goodposting:

Considering JJ's started every game this year, I'd say he is the starter, Barber is the finisher, and both will probably be rested this week.

TJ is the elder of the two. As for this week, i would expect to see a whole lot of Tyson Thompson... The hometown kid. I wouldnt get too excited about starting him though... He kinda sucks.
