Thinking of going hard the first two picks on RB. Which might leave me with the 4 above mentioned as a potential rotation of WRs. Non-PPR standard scoring 12 team league.

The rate my team gives this a bad rap. Is it all that bad if combined with 2 premium RBs?

Don't go into a draft with a set positional decision. Take BPA. Create a combined draft board and take the highest guy left regardless of position. Don't force RB-RB to start. That's the best way to lose value and a better player. I think the rate my app is seconding this approach (BPA).

Yes that is good advice and my plan. But in mock drafts I SEEM to end up with first two picks (best player available) being RBs. I am reacting to how mock drafts are happening. I feel I NEED to take a WR in the third. Or overthinking it?

Overthinking it. Take the best available player. Don't force positions. Now if you value a RB and WR the same and really can't decide then sure take the RB if you feel better about that.

OK so I am running mock drafts following the rankings closer than I normally would. Common theme is I end up with a great set of RBs, quality QB and TE. But lame WRs. Such as Jameson Williams and Stephon Diggs as starters. Not sure I can follow the first 60 players formula and make it work when the rest of the people drafting are taking all the top WRs before I do.

I know talent is talent. OK here is an example of using their system.

QB - Daniels and Lawrence
RBs - Jeanty, Jacobs, J Warren, J Mason, Charbonet
WRs - J Williams, McMillan, Diggs, Kirk, Bateman
TE - Kittle, Ferguson
Broncos

Sounds like you don't agree with the rankings you are using co.etely and believe there are some WR early that you like better than the RB you are taking in mocks.

Not sure that's how I would put it but kinda yes. I don't want to end up with nothing but WR2 and 3s. But then I do wind up with 3 RB1-2s.

Just feeling uncomfortable with the system being yes if all of us were following the same pattern then we would all be loading RBs first THEN WRs and I would have a balanced team as would others.

Back to the drawing board and maybe I'll override the system to take one WR earlier. Can't decide.

But that isn't the way VBD works. If everyone is doing the same then a position will eventually lose the "value" and it has you pivot to a different position that has the value.
The reason I said you aren't in line with the rankings is because you like some WR's over some of the RB's you are getting early. If you don't like your team strictly following somebody's list then alter the list to get your players and team construct you believe will be better. Trust yourself.

Your rankings are your rankings. Don’t worry about other people. I’ve had years where I spent weeks making rankings and years I just kinda go with it. If you put the time and effort in it, stick to it. There’s a reason you liked them don’t worry about the “experts” opinion. It’s just that. An opinion.

Example, I absolutely loved Isaac TeSlaa coming out of college. I was touting his greatness the whole draft process and was ecstatic my Lions drafted him. I am so confident in him I drafted him in the 11th round of my main league just to make sure I got him. Too early. For sure, but in my rankings it was worth it. The “experts” don’t think he should even be drafted but I believe and am happy with it.
