Since he is now the #2, what would you gauge his worth at?
Lions fan here.He played against our third and fourth string secondary last year. For all practical purposes, it was a pre season game at best. And if anyone drank that Kool Aid, then I want to play poker with you soon.PeaceI think the train has left the station on Flynn. Redraft: Not worth a roster spot unless you have a huge benchDynasty: A soft maybe. I would not waste a slot, but if you have space and in need of QB depth- maybe
This. Wilson does not look impressive to me so for Flynn to lose the job to the guy says a lot about his skills imo. Could be looking at a career backup guy, even if he gets the starting job at some point, I see very very little value.Lions fan here.He played against our third and fourth string secondary last year. No offense but what the hell are you watching? To say it's only preseason and to not buy into the Wilson hype is understandable. To say that you haven't been impressed with how he's played is absurd.This. Wilson does not look impressive to me so for Flynn to lose the job to the guy says a lot about his skills imo. your second sentence is what i mean, wasn't meant to put the guy down at all. yes, wilson did some great things and i agree that he deserves the starting job. it's more a jab at Flynn, wilson didn't do anything so spectacular that flynn would have lost the job had he performed even most of the way up to his hype. i drank the flynn kool aid at the end of last season even knowing what teamraramrod posted and was horribly wrong, so obviously i don't know QB talent when i see it.No offense but what the hell are you watching? You and I aren't watching the same person I think. Flynn actually looked really good, even if his stat line didn't look it. Flynn didn't "lose" the job, Wilson just simply out-played him and won that job.your second sentence is what i mean, wasn't meant to put the guy down at all. yes, wilson did some great things and i agree that he deserves the starting job. it's more a jab at Flynn, wilson didn't do anything so spectacular that flynn would have lost the job had he performed even most of the way up to his hype. i drank the flynn kool aid at the end of last season even knowing what teamraramrod posted and was horribly wrong, so obviously i don't know QB talent when i see it.No offense but what the hell are you watching? Always a chance but I haven't read anything speculating on it yet. With a few teams totally dying for a QB and a relatively weak QB class it's certainly possible. Schneider and Carroll though won't let him go without working they're impressive offseason maneuvers though.any chance hes on another team in 2013
Looks like he'll be a backup until 2015. His contract is a bit expensive ($5.25M next year) for a backup but they aren't paying their starter much and can afford it. He might get cut/traded in 2014 since they'll save $4.25M off the cap but I definitely see him back in Seattle next year.Always a chance but I haven't read anything speculating on it yet. That's why I say the FO will get great value for him if they decide to get rid of him. No reason to do so unless its really worth it. Like Flynn and a first for Fitz. No real thought put into that offer, just as an exampleLooks like he'll be a backup until 2015. Agree with sweeney. There's always going to be teams looking for a QB, but there's little reason for Seattle to trade him away. They paid Flynn the signing bonus for his contract already and his salary next year is minimal. The expectation for next year is that the Seahawks will be very competitive and the Seattle administration will want to keep a veteran backup that they believe in especially if he's not going to cost them much.Always a chance but I haven't read anything speculating on it yet. Carroll told Sanchez he wasn't ready for the NFL when he left USC. Not really sure what he's done since then to show that he is. Pete's shown that he treats former players no differently than others so that's just a pipe dream for Sanchez to go to a winning team.maybe NY sends Sanchez back to Carrol for Flynn,![]()
That's not exactly true. He had $10M guaranteed, of which he was paid $6M in signing bonus and $2M in salary. $4M of the signing bonus is still on the books so they'd only save $1.25M ($5.25M salary - $4M) on the cap by cutting him.Went fishing in my leagues before the waivers locked, was able to find him in one 14 teamer; worth a hold over the off-season
ESPN's John Clayton suggests Matt Flynn will not be back in Seattle next season.
Flynn is due $5.25 million in base salary for 2013, but only $2 million of that is guaranteed. "The Seahawks have the luxury of shopping him and seeing if they can get value. If not, then they can cut him and move on," writes Clayton, a former Seahawks beat writer. Despite losing a training camp battle to Russell Wilson this season, Flynn figures to draw interest from teams planning to run a West Coast scheme in 2013. The Bills, Chiefs and Cardinals are three of the most quarterback-needy teams in the league.
Perhaps my perception.is way off, but I'm thinking that they will view this as a good price to pay for a backup they can trust. Compared to the rest of the league they will have very little invested into the QB position. Am I wrong in this line of thinking? That's not exactly true. i dont see seattle trading flynn to a division opponant.Flynn figures to draw interest from teams planning to run a West Coast scheme in 2013. The Bills, Chiefs and Cardinals are three of the most quarterback-needy teams in the league.
Looking into it a little more, I think the chances of Seattle moving him this off-season is slim. The Bills would be the best bet but I doubt they would give up what is needed for the deal (most likely a 3rd or 4th rounder). Next off-season would be my guess when Sea moves on from Flynn.i dont see seattle trading flynn to a division opponant.Flynn figures to draw interest from teams planning to run a West Coast scheme in 2013. Exactly. Why would Seattle trade him unless it was effectively a "deal too good to be true"? Especially since Seattle's QB scouting (outside of Wilson, of course) hasn't exactly been stellar so far.Perhaps my perception.is way off, but I'm thinking that they will view this as a good price to pay for a backup they can trust. Not sure I agree with you here. I think they put the efforts (draft and free agent currency) into building the rest of the team before attempting to bring in a QB. IMO it has worked out quite well.Especially since Seattle's QB scouting (outside of Wilson, of course) hasn't exactly been stellar so far.
they missed on whitehurst. i think tjax was okay. he played exactly how all of us and seattle thought he would. flynn looked good in the preseason. i think they would have been happy with what he would have done, it's just that wilson was even better. so 2 good moves, 1 bad and 1 tie. if we are talking about the franchise and not just carol, hasselback, who came from no where was also a big win for them. all in all, they got much more out of their qb position relative to what they gave up to get them. Not sure I agree with you here. What do you mean? They acquired cheap, temporary tackling dummies to stick back there while the built a team around the position. Then they went out and got two starting caliber guys when they were ready. They boggled the competition letting TJ get snaps but otherwise they've handled the QB position pretty well.Exactly.Why would Seattle trade him unless it was effectively a "deal too good to be true"? Maybe you should have your eyes checked? This. Wilson does not look impressive to me.
