Is Matt Schaub attainable? (1 Viewer)

The title says it all. What would it take to get Matt Schaub away from Atlanta? He's the best QB in the state and would like to see him in Minny to replace C Pep.

Probably wont happen. Vick is too injury prone for Atlanta to let him go in my opinion.
Unless I'm mistaken, he'll be a RFA after this season and they have a pile of money tied up in Vick. They obviously wouldn't have to let him go yet, but they might me tempted to.

That's the cost of having a running QB. If they're smart they keep him. They'll need a good backup anyway and Schaub is likely to be cheaper than the other options and knows the offense.

Last year a few teams inquired and barked at them wanting a first round pick for him. Can't recall which but it was batted about here so if you're good at searching.....

No way Schaub should command a 1st rounder if Culpepper could be had for a 2nd rounder........

Either way, I don't think it will be easy to get him out of Atlanta. I would bet the second he can leave, he will. It must be hard watching a guy play that you know you are better than......

Lets see:Younger? check

MUCH MUCH cheaper? check

Not coming off a devestating knee injury? check

The third reason combined with the second is why Schaub is worth more than Pepper.

So that's why Patrick Ramsey's worth a 1st rounder?

true, but he only has to watch Detmer play in practice

LOL @ "need it answered." What's needed is improvement on your analysis. A player's worth is measured by more than the health of his knee and his age. I happen to like Shaub as a prospect, but that's all he is. Unlike Ramsey, he's not had the games to really demonstrate his abilities, and even Ramsey's considered raw at this point despite playing for twice as many years and roughly 10 times as many snaps and starts.

A trade of high draft picks for him at this point would seem silly in light of the market value for others out there who have an actual track record to look at. While Shaub may end up better, this looks a lot like the Scott Mitchell trade from Miami to Detroit prospectively.

I wonder if some team really covetted him and then balked at the price. Went thru all last year thinking about it and now might just suck it up and cave to the high demand.

I'm going to side with Diesel here. Ramsey has already failed once as an NFL starter, whereas Schaub has looked great every step of the way. If I were an NFL GM then I'd definitely deal a first rounder for him.

A deal similar to the one that landed Matt Hasselbeck would be pretty fair for both sides.

He's not worth trading away a 1st rounder, but he's worth trading down a few spots.

Is Ramsey going to start for Washington? NoIs Ramsey going to backup Brunell? No

Washington has no leverage to demand a 1st round pick for Ramsey, who has failed as a starter twice in this league.

Schaub is a crucial backup for ATL who has succeeded in his opportunities to be a #1 guy. He is younger, and looks to be more talented than Ramsey.

If you cant see why Schaub would demand a higher pick, I dont know what to say...

I am not going to trash Schaub since I think he is a great prospect but to compare his limited action to what Culpepper has done is a little silly.

Schaub career 66/134 for 825 yards and 5TD/4INT

the simplest point is that once a team says they won't be keeping player X, his value goes down. There might be some superstar exception but....Ramsey will be given to some team. Schaub will have to be pried away.

Still seems to be the Broncos and Falcons interested in Abraham. I wonder if the Jets don't ask for Schaub and pick for Abe
