Is Ray Rice hurt? (1 Viewer)

From Rotoworld...

Ravens coach John Harbaugh revealed in his post-game press conference Sunday that Ray Rice injured his knee against the Browns.Rice didn't play on Baltimore's final two drives in a close game, so it's believed he injured the knee on the team's early-fourth quarter possession. Harbaugh did confirm that Rice doesn't have ligament damage, but a knee sprain could sideline him for multiple weeks. Willis McGahee needs to be owned in all leagues. Rice will undergo "further evaluation" on Monday.
If he's on your waiver wire, go get McGahee.

Oh great. I thought he just stopped running the ball...had no idea he got hurt. That would put a nice "screw you" on my day of fantasy football.

From Twitter...QUOTE @RavensInsider: ray rice suffered sprained knee during ravens win; nothing ligament wise or cartilage damage for rice per harbaughIf this report is to be believed the injury may not be that serious. On the other hand any knee injury isn't good.

Doesn't sound serious but a knee injury might be reason enough to limit his carries. McGahee will probably see an increased role even if Rice is ok to play next week.

Cooll that Harbaugh has an MRI machine and results available so quickly.

Yeah I was going to say the same thing! Knee strain means a ligament was strained, stretched or at worst torn.MRI Monday will tell everything.

exactly. sprain = partial tear, at least. I'm not a Dr, but there's only 4 things in a knee - blood, bones, ligaments, and cartilage. It's clearly not a blood or bone issue, so it basically has to be a ligament or cartilage, right?I've seen things that look small end up being huge when the Dr's look ati it...sometimes the really benign looking ones are the bad ones.

Tendon, muscle synovial fluid

Either way a sprained knee usually means a tear of some sort to either the tendon, cartilage, or ligaments.

McGahee's stock may shoot to the moon tomorrow or stay in the gutter.

There is a 5th 'ingredient'. He could have damaged/ruptured his bursa sac. NOte I don't think or know this to be true, I just think that's in the knee.

I'm new to this board...can someone tell me what this means? It seems like it's posted multiple times in every thread.
Basically someone doesn't want to post anything in words but they want to make sure when they scroll that this thread pops up as one they posted in...it's easier for them to find it on the board so they use that emoticon just to identify the thread. It's a marker

sorry if this is not new:

Ravens | Ray Rice believes he can play in Week 4

from Footballguys.com News Blogger

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice (knee) remains upbeat that he will be able to play in the team's Week 4 game, according to Kevin Van Valkenburg, of The Baltimore Sun. 'Right now, everything is standard,' Rice said. 'I'll take some tests on Monday, but everything looks positive.' The Ravens are being vague about the extent of Rice's injury; however, head coach John Harbaugh said there is no ligament tear in the knee. Our View: We'll see if Rice practices during the week before we get excited about his prospects for week four. If he misses any time due to this injury the team will look to Willis McGahee to carry the load against the Steelers.

Let's take a step back:

He was probable heading into the game b/c of an ankle injury

Steelers are the best run defense in the league

McGahee is more than capable as a backup, especially with McClain ready to help carry the load

To me, all signs point to Rice missing this game or seeing a drastically reduced workload. What sucks is that McGahee can't really be counted on as a one-week plugin due to the matchup.

Uh-oh. Take this for what it's worth, but I just found this on Twitter:

RT @RoyalFlushed26 Breaking News: Rumors circulating out of the Ravens camp that Ray Rice has torn his ACL and is likely done for the season

per Dan Kolko, Ravens beat writer:

Ray Rice has a "significant contusion" on his knee, per Harbaugh. Hasn't been ruled out for Sunday vs Steelers.

A bruise seems like about the best possible outcome from this. Appreciate the post; hopefully that is the extent of the injury.
