Is Tebow being given a fair shot to be a NFL QB?

Dr Octopus, tebow being signed and collins not being signed doesn't disprove my point. #1 majority of the teams didn't want to sign Tebow --hence why he had to go to a team where he has zero chance of starting-- #2 you keep mentioning that jason colins hasn't been signed yet, but it isn't possible for him to get signed yet --literally impossible at this point--, so every time you mention that I am going to think you're.... well.... dumb to be frank. Last point, if you want to mock things I have said in the past at least be man enough to include my name in it, like Witz did in the other thread.
The Jason Collins comment was a joke, but I'm sure you knew that ducktales. I'll eagerly await your response that it wasn't funny, ducktales. Sorry for being unmanly ducktakes, but I figured it was obvous that I was mocking your outlandish position ducktales. it's not very christian of you to call me dumb, ducktales. I'm surprised that some one that is taking up your fight would resort to calling people childish names, ducktales. Think I'm done feeding the troll (the troll is ducktales, just to be clear).

Oddsmakers: Tim Tebow big favorite to stick with Patriots

By Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Oddsmakers make Tim Tebow a big favorite to make the Patriots' 53-man Week 1 roster, but a solid underdog to throw a touchdown pass this season.

Those are just some of the props sportsbooks released as they try to capitalize on the resurgence of Tebow mania.

Tebow is a -400 favorite at Bovada to be on the opening-day roster, meaning you'd have to risk $400 to win $100 if you like Tebow to make the squad. On the other hand, he's a +200 underdog to throw a scoring pass this season.

While Bovada sets the Over/Under for Tebow's combined rushing and receiving touchdowns at 1.5, Sportsbook.com added passing touchdowns to the mix and set the line at 2.5 (Over -140).

Here's the full list of Tebow props at Bovada, courtesy of OddsShark.

Tim Tebow -- Will he make the Patriots' 53 man Week 1 roster?

Yes -400

No +250

Tim Tebow -- Will he start a game as a QB for the Patriots in the 2013 regular season?

* Must make Patriots 53-man Week 1 roster for action.

Tim Tebow - Will he throw a TD Pass in the 2013 regular season?

No -300

*Must make Patriots 53-man Week 1 roster for action.

Tim Tebow -- Total rushing and receiving TDs in the 2013 regular season

Over 1½ (-120)

Under 1½ (-120)

* Must make Patriots 53-man Week 1 roster for action.

Tim Tebow -- Will he attempt a pass in the 2013 regular season?

Yes -300

No +200

* Must make Patriots 53-man Week 1 roster for action.
Rotoworld:

ESPN's Adam Schefter expects Tim Tebow to be the Patriots No. 3 quarterback and inactive for most games this season.
Schefter senses that Tebow will make the final roster, but he describes a developmental quarterback role. We'll probably have to wait until preseason games to find out exactly what Bill Belichick has in mind. For now, there's no tangible evidence that Tebow will be asked to help at tight end.

I'd call $1MM for 2 games more than fair:

TIM TEBOW OFFERED $1 MILLION TO PLAY FOOTBALL IN RUSSIABy Ross Jones, FOXSports.com

Tim Tebow won a Heisman Trophy at Florida partly because he was good at rushing. The question now appears: is he fluent in Russian … currency.

“We have offered him $1 million for two games,” Moscow Black Storm owner Mikhail Zaltsman told RBTH. “I talked with him personally and he wanted to go.”

We can’t make this stuff up, folks. Apparently they play American football in Russia and one of those owners is willing to pay seven figures if Tebow shows up to play in the semifinal.

Tebow’s agents are urging him to not play and to focus solely on becoming a motivational speaker, according to Zaltsman. The big-time payday would be more money than Tebow would’ve earned this season if he would’ve been made the New England Patriots’ regular season roster.

Last time we heard any news about Tim Tebow, he was in Los Angeles taking pictures with USC lacrosse girls. We here at Laces Out wonder what’s next.

He has a fair shot of being a JV coach at a HS somewhere by 2015.
I think he'll end up as a college football analyst or call college games for one of the networks.
I've heard tons of people say this and I just don't get it. How is he going to analyze games on TV? From everything I've read, one of his biggest weaknesses is his complete inability to read or understand a playbook. How is he going to come up with original insight on a live television broadcast?

And on top of that, I'm not sure I've ever heard him speak a sentence that isn't A) about Jesus or B) filled with nothing but cliches about how he's "going to give it everything he has" or "will do whatever he has to to help the team". Quite frankly, he hasn't shown any ability to speak unless its about himself or his agenda.

Agree. He does not come off as very intelligent. But then again his minions will probably tune in to every game he does.

I think that's what it will be, the draw of his fanbase will watch him no matter what. If Dennis Miller was able to get an NFL gig for a few years, then Tebow should be able to get a college announcer opportunity.

I was wondering what happened to this thread. I argued that he was not given a fair shot in New York, and I stand by that. I don't believe the brain trust/clown car that is Jets management knew what to do with him, and he never even had an opportunity to show what he could do when the season was over and they could have played him with no risk to anything.

But I believe he was given a fair shot in New England. They don't sign people for nothing, and they evaluated him and found him lacking. They gave him chances to show what he could do and he didn't earn a spot. He wasn't super-embarrassing, but he didn't prove himself to be worthy of a backup role. Simple as that.

I wasn't rooting for or against him. I just thought he was treated poorly in Denver and deserved a fair shot. He got it. Case closed.

He's certainly not an NFL starting qb by any means---but I do think that he should at least be a viable backup. Look at Buffalo with kevin kolb--the dude cant even walk across a rubber mat without getting hurt. In a league where blaine gabbert is given a starting job--I would say that it shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that a guy like tebow should at least be a backup qb for a team. I watched the 4th quarter of the jets vs patriots game--and honestly--I would almost bet that tebow would have at least not self destructed at the end like geno did. I'm not saying that he could or ever should start ahead of a guy like Geno-- all I'm saying is that there are some garbage qbs that are currently employed.

Really? What kind of "fair shot" is the 4th string QB entitled to?

He was given a fair shot, but it's all a question of judgment.

Fox is a great coach and thought Tebow to be better than Brady Quinn (which he is).

Now Ryan (not such a great coach, or at least not as good as Fox) thinks Brady Quinn to be better than Tebow (which he is not) and gives him a 3rd string spot (and who knows maybe would put him in over Simms if it came to it) while cutting Tebow. That is absurd, this has already been proven out as just plain wrong.

Now all of this is is ridiculous, but if we're talking the quality of current and past Jets 2nd/3rd string QBs here let's do it.

By the way, maybe the thread title should now be, "Is Tebow Being Given a Fair Shot In Russia?"

At least Miller was educated. I actually used a word I learned from him, defenestrate, in a sentence today. What would anyone ever learn from Tebow?

Tebow rally in Jax! Just when you think the madness will stop... he comes back from the grave!
Well this is pretty simple, all Khan and Bradley have to do is explain why Tebow has zero chance to help this team well on its way to a 2-14 record win some games that people are paying $$$$$$$$$$$ to see.

i learned to tebow

and to love

and BE loved

and wear crocs

It would be pretty funny if the Jags reached out to Tebow and he said

"no, i want to play for a real NFL team, thanks though!"

(he would not do this, he would be there in a heartbeat)

would you agree that Tebow cannot make the jags any worse?
He will make them worse if they win enough games to lose out on Teddy Bridgewater, so yes he can do serious damage. However i don't see any patsies on the schedule where The Tebow can get lucky like he did in Denver.

What kind of criteria is that? Lady Gaga being the head coach might not make the team any worse but should they hire her as well?
i dunno, is there a big Gaga fanbase in Jacksonville?

and, are they losing a good coach if they hire her?

there is a big Tebow fan base, and they are not losing a good QB by signing him, unless he makes them win too many games

The Tebow fan base in Jacksonville is not as strong as most outsiders seem to think. The majority of Jaguars fans want the team to improve with a clear goal for the future, not a circus sideshow. Tim had his chance to play here, he chose the Jets. But it will be fun to watch the hoopla.

Ha, this cracks me up - GM-Coach discussion: "Well if we sign him we may actually win some games.... on the other hand, if we sign him we will probably win some games."

The Jags need a "Suck for Luck" type of rally cry, maybe Take a knee for Teddy!

Well, not to be too harsh, but i am not sure you have anything other than a circus side show at this point

and, rumor has it there was just a tebow rally...no other city had tebow rallies

if you think Tebow will stunt the development of this team more then henne or gabbert that's a valid reason. I am not sure what there is on this team to develop and i don't think he brings it down UNLESS he wins.

The QB play has not been good, but with Blackmon out the Jags are very weak at WR behind Shorts, Marcedes Lewis is yet to play a down this season, the O-line has allowed 11 sacks in two games and now MJD is hurt. It is quite reasonable for the Jaguars to wait for the return of Blackmon, Lewis, MJD and hope they can sure up the O-line before bailing on Gabbert or even Henne. If you are rebuilding you want to get a look at what you have first. Judging Gabbert by one game against a pretty good KC defense without a starting WR and TE is shortsighted. They need to run their program and trust their evaluations not bring in a guy no other team in the NFL wants just to satisfy a small number of fans of a person, not the team.

Somewhere out there there is another Kurt Warner who really never has been given a fair shot.

It's not Tim Tebow, but that guy is out there now, selling cars, bagging groceries, selling insurance, coaching high school ball.

I hope there's like zillions of people at this Rally right now :excited:

<apparently there's hidden ads on this website so I'm clipping out the link>

Though a part of me wonders if there's a bit of troll-work in the fine print:

"The universe is unflonding as it should."

"Signs, shirts, stickers or whatever. Every afternnoon until the JAGS cave, get on street corners and wave the TEBOW banner. Whenever you can. Get your friends, relatives, church, school, club, gang... your circle of influence."

The Jags should be happy about this, the team is 0-2 and people are rallying.

They care, they really care.

that site is REALLY bad

isn;t there one tebow fan with some basic web skills, or one tebow fan that knows someone with some basic web skills?

a herpes-infected monkey could make a better site than that

All the more reason I suspect that it's really this Orlando radio dude/reporter that put this together - it's basically trolling.
