Is there even a ww RB to grab? (1 Viewer)

So Ive been looking to decide who to target among the following backups. Some are on my WW and some I would angle to trade for.

They all need something to happen to get the shot, but like Andre Brown, injuries happen but are impossible to predict.

So who are the best breakout candidates if they get a shot?

Lamar Miller, MIA

Shaun Draughn, KC

Mike Goodson, OAK

Vick Ballard, IND

Alex Green, GB

Bilal Powell, NYJ

Bryce Brown, PHI

Ronnie Hillman, DEN

Based on what I've seen or read about these guys, I like Lamar Miller the best and probably S Draughn next. They both look like more complete backs to me than Powell and Goodson (who both are super quick but appear "light" to me).

Miller and Draughn also seem to have more electricity than Ballard and Green IMO. I can't speak to Hillman or Brown.

How would you rank them? And are there any that stand out especially from the rest?

Wait for injury reports, someone(s) will emerge, they always do.
that's right. If Tashard Choice or Lamar Miller go for 12-88-1 next week, we'll all be talking about themand I'll be stunned
imo Miller should be active for the next game (could be a nice audition) I dont believe Thomas will be able to practice (maybe do walk-tru?) Personally I believe it might still be a bit early to expect much from Miller, but time will tell.
OTOH Lamar Miller was drafted in every single twelve team league I saw or drafted in over the last three weeks and in many fourteen teamers I discussed with others..... but maybe shallower leagues or those who drafted very early where rookie RB are not viewed favorably ...
I see your love of all things prospects extends to football too.Miller's like every other talented backup in the league. Roster, hope the incumbent gets hurt or sucks, if that doesn't happen by the bye weeks cut bait and fill the hole. Absolutely do not be married to him in redrafts, I have better options, I'll dip into the Miller well if a spot opens up but unless you're the Reggie owner he's replacement level.

As far as injury opportunity? Add pierce to the list.

At least on ESPN McCluster has Rb eligiblity. If you're league is PPR I would definitely add him as he could be a serviceable flex/bye week fill in option all season now that he is manning the slot. The fact he received 10 targets this past weekend is very encouraging.Beyond that....I would be proactive, assuming you have room on the bench, and pick up Phillip Tanner and as someone mentioned earlier Ringer is not a bad pick up and hold on the end of your bench option either.Tanner for obvious reasons...that Cowboys offense looks explosive and he's one Murray injury away from giving you good RB2 production. Felix Jones has literally fallen off the map at this point. As for Ringer......and this goes back to what I said all offseason on these boards....CJ2K is done. He's a shade of his former self. He tip toes way too much now and doesn't explode through holes. That O-Line might not be the greatest but if/when Ringer does get called on I think he'll do more with less.
Tanner? As a Murray owner I had Felix earlier in the season and dropped him figuring Tanner wasn't worth owning either.Does he really have the talent to be a worthy cuff to Murray? I can't find any info on him.

Tanner is definitely the cuff. The Cowboys really like him and he did ran hard/well for them last season. Looked good in preseason as well until he broke his hand.

Is he good enough to be the workhorse back? Play on 3rd downs?

Moreno is a lottery ticket. I think eventually he builds into a decent amount of receptions - similar to Addai)
He had 0 last night
Yes, but the Atlanta defense was amazing. There are not a lot of defenses that are capable of putting in a performance like what they did against the Broncos.
I live in Denver, Moreno will continue to be a fumbling bust and Ronnie Hillman will be the #2 back Behind Willis. Hillman just needs to get healthy and get better at pass protection. He is a great receiver and make decisive cuts when running the ball. If you have room at the end of your bench, I would sit him there. I have!

Of this list, Miller and Powell are very much worth preemptive stashes. Bush's injury history is well documented and it's only a matter of time before NYJ realizes just how bad Greene is. Both Miller and Powell would have a ton of upside if they saw more work.Draughn is interesting, I like the way he runs, but have you watched any of the KC games? Unless they can figure out how not to fall far behind early, not even an injury to one of the RBs will make this dude relevant. He'd need two injuries, I wouldn't count on it happening.Goodson has looked good in limited action. I feel like a lot of DMC owners (including me) are sleeping on this handcuff. It wasn't clear preseason, but Goodson is almost a must own for DMC owners, almost.I'm not sure what's up with Green, he's probably still rehabbing from the ACL tear, but he's looked pretty bad running the ball. I could see him getting more work mid year but wouldn't bother rostering him in redraft.Hillman is too raw and has been a healthy scratch, nuff said.I find it funny how people are saying "pick up Ballard now!". He's looked even worse than Brown and quite honestly, no one should want a piece of IND's run game. Only their passing game will be relevant, save a good match-up here and there this year. Brown looked great in the preseason, I doubt he's being cuffed very often though.

Jason Snelling

Turner is done and adding personal issues on top of this

Rodgers IMHO is overhyped and has not shown the ability or physical attributes to be a 3 down back

Snelling was reigned as a free agent to a 3 year contract and has produced when called upon

And this high powered offense could use a sustaining running game to compliment their passing.

Yes and yes. But Felix would probably take the 3rd down role.

Just wanted to back up the guy on Moreno being horrible. When they put him in the game everyone watching it with me groaned and said "Oh, god no...". Then he immediately lost a fumble. He's looked horrible. He's got under 10 carries and is averaging a yard or so per carry. He just spelled McGahee on the goal line one time and got a TD and people went nuts - unless you watched the game - then you knew he still looked horrid.

I do like Powell. He'll not only get an opportunity because of injury but also because the guy in front of him isn't performing - a little more chance. I like both Brown and Miller talent wise (of the list you posted) but you'd need an injury for them to pay off.

Break glass in case of emergency name to throw out there.

Chris Ogbonnaya

The bruising back has not carried the football yet this season, but he caught all six passes thrown his way last week, gaining an impressive 73 yards. Ogbonnaya even caught four passes after he lost a fumble, showing the Browns have supreme confidence in him.
Last week Weeden had over 100 of his passing yards going to the RBs and Obie was the designated third down back.It also seems the Browns have shifted away pass attempts from the TE position and given those to the RB position.

Silent-G looks good as a receiving back but he's not going to be vulching carries or scores away from T-Rich so this is only if you are in dire need and more for PPR leagues where Obie would hold more value.

Ringer is finally going to play today, he appears to be over his elbow issue. He could be a lottery ticket to the FF playoffs if he comes up big today, but you gota grab him now.

Fred Jackson is available in my league. Do most of you think he will regain a significant share of carries when he returns, or has CJ locked on to the position?

Word came out that Trent would start taking over more and more of the 3rd down snaps. Chris O. Is just a guy. Trent will be playing all meaningful snaps soon enough.

Hadn't seen that one. From this morning:

My link

Weeden went through his progressions with more efficiency.

“Through my thick skull and as stubborn as I am, I’ve gotta realize that sometimes [my receivers] are gonna get caught in man-to-man. They’re not gonna win,” Weeden said. “So I’ve gotta find my backs . … I think it was really an eye opener using those guys as much as I did and finding those guys to make big plays ’cause I can’t get greedy. In college, I got greedy. I stuck balls in some tight windows ’cause I knew I could, and guys were a lot more open, but that’s not the case here.”
