Is there really no hope for Addai/Indy this week? (1 Viewer)

So I'm sadly stuck with playing Addai this week as my RB2, and obviously the Colts will have to run more than usual now. That's usually music to an owner's ears, but every time I read blurbs from RotoWorld, it's like they don't have a rats chance in hell of gaining a single yard on the ground.

Examples:

Today: "...the Colts figure to make a flailing effort at a run-heavy attack. It's not going to be pretty."

Yesterday: "The offense wasn't built to run. The Colts led the NFL in pass attempts last season and have personnel suited for a decidedly pass-first scheme. The line is shaky at best and trained to pass block. While Addai will be needed to take pressure off Kerry Collins, we don't have high hopes."

So Indy homers, what's the story? Are they that bad or does Roto just hate your team? Should Addai just stay home? Should I just drop him to waivers now?

The Colts are going to be horrible. Has anyone watched the Titans the last few years with Collins? Plus he's a year older, didn't work out all off-season, and is thrown into the middle of a team with a poor offensive line, scrubs at running back and a timing offense built around Manning.

I also think the colts are not only going to lose but lose badly / can't see many scoring chances.

I actually just dropped Vinateri for another kicker

Each NFL season is filled with surprises, so I can't completely rule out the possibility that the Colts can achieve offensive mediocrity without Manning. I strongly doubt it though. Unless Collins locks onto Addai as a garbage time checkdown, I'm benching him for any startable option.

I think that Addai will play alot to provide blocking for Collins if and when they do try the pass. For a PPR play, I could see Addai catching more than a few check downs and having a decent RB2 day. 5 catches/ 75-90 combined yards and a good possibility of a garbage time TD, is not all that bad.

I think Addai is actually the better play on the team because of Collins. He will be the first checkdown option for a QB with some rust and the Texan's defense has been very weak to the running game up the middle during the preseason. I think Houston will come in seeing blood in the water, but I think Addai has a good fantasy game against a defense that face it, is new and hasn't had alot of time in Wade's defense.

collins DOES NOT check down. /cj owner
THIS. Having owned CJ in at least 1 league the last 3 years it is beyond frustrating watching Collins play. He stares downfield and it seems the only time he did check down was when there was a defender or two sitting and waiting to tackle CJ. I got Addai as my flex in two leagues this year thinking he had some upside left in him in the Colts offense. With Manning out I have ZERO confidence in Addai being a reliable flex option. Time to start angling for trades already. :wall:
