Is This Board Dying? (2 Viewers)

I think the point about the lack of pictures and fancier things is a good one. If I was 25 and had never been here I wouldn't spend 10 seconds on this board. I would be at reddit or whatever board is younger/funnier/more modern. I like the people here though so I keep returning.

This board is basically your parent's church.
I got a handy in church once. No one here has ever jacked me off.

Has anyone mentioned it could be the lack of political and religious threads?

Also, maybe we're all just to tolerant of each other points of views?

And lastly, single Otis's threads were way better than married Otis threads. I much preferred Otis musing over which broad to bang than how to remove a raccoon from a garbage can. Of course we all have to grow up sometime.

The bottom line is the group of people that were together over at old yeller are getting older. That is a fact. If you are still posting the same "hey look at the drunken crazy night" story when you are 40 that you were posting when you were 20, you probably have bigger problems and are not able to post as much on a website.

I think it has been interesting to see how the things have progressed---early on, it was drunken, dating, wacky threads. which slowly started turning to marriage and sometime divorce threads and now most of us now have kids so we start/participate in threads like that. It frankly is going to be interesting how many of us are still here 20 years from now and it becomes like the AARP forums with such fascinating topics such as "Do I have dementia" or "Hip replacement suggestions"

We already have great threads on CPAP machines, vasectomies, and Cialis. :2cents:

Some great material on that board from which some FBG can pull his next :fishing: expedition.

Case in point:

This episode happened yesterday, and I am feeling regret, like I was a jerk.

I had a 1 pm appt. across the street from my office at my regular hair salon to get a glaze. (Takes 15 minutes, they put it on, rinse, and I skip the blow dry and leave with it wet.) I had a meeting running late today, and called the salon to let them know I wouldn't be there until 1:30. The woman on the phone was really snippy, and said, "Well, we normally would charge for what is a missed appt., but will let it slide just this once." I get the policy, and understood.

I arrive, and they don't see me until 2 pm. Again, cool as I was late. But as I was leaving at 2:20, she scolded me publically, saying next time I would have to pay for two appointments as I was late.

Here's the thing, last month I showed up for a noon appointment, and wasn't seen until 12:50. So I was thinking about this, and busted out with, "So you were going to charge me today? Should I have charged YOU guys for my time last month, when I had to wait? I won't be coming back."

And I am always worked in between other people.

Was I in the wrong? How would you have handled this? (Sorry I am long winded.)

Aaah, the days when a jihad would get everyone banned.

My fave was the "women against fantasy football" site. I won't name names but there was about 12 hours of brilliant posting/avatars/dumb-as-hell-stuff over there before it all got shut down.

But it seems to detract from the brand of DCUM as a family site, if that has any revenue value. I guess DCUM in general was always not really family friendly at heart, however!

If someone wants to send me prescription pills right now I will take them. No need to wait until I'm old.

Seems like a lot less activity here than in the past. I haven't looked at any kind of metric other than a quick glance at the number of users online. FWIW, just now there were 556 users online in the last 30 minutes versus a record of over 15k.

To be fair, here's an apples to apples comparison:

437 users are online (in the past 30 minutes)219 members, 194 guests, 24 anonymous users

Is it that time of year again? I can't even keep count of all the times this place has been pronounced dead or dying.

The place has become a bore. The same threads with the same people arguing the same side about the same things. I don't even open most threads anymore because I already know who is going to post there and what they're going to say. We need new threads started by new people or at least new threads started by people who don't usually start new threads. And people need to stop being condescending. It's embarrassing to see smart people talk down to other people. What's going on in your real life where you need to act that way in your online life? Grow up already.

Are we supposed to just let dopes be dopes without letting them know that they are dopes? Why even have the FFA?

Yeah my feeling are often hurt by all the smart people here. There are sooo many super intelligent people on this board. Could we maybe create a new forum for the stupid guys? If I was with my own kind maybe I wouldn't feel so bad.
