Curious what you guys think. Some owners in my league have asked me to veto the trade for collusion.

Trade is: P. Manning for Anderson/Rhodes.

Team A- Currently in 8th place, 4th in his division... real small hope of making the playoffs:

McNabb, PManning, Rodgers

Grant, McFadden, L. White

Team B- Currently in 2nd place, 1st in his division:

Warner, Anderson

LT, Sproles, Graham, F. Jones, Rhodes

this is a keeper league- keep up to 3 per season with salaries

Concerns I've heard are that Anderson may not have a job in a couple weeks and Rhodes only started one game and may not start any more with Addai getting healthy. Seems like he's just giving up to some.

People in the league have said they could understand trading Manning away for Felix Jones and Graham (both don't play for team B), so he'd at least be bettering his team for the future. He could get a lot more for Manning than 2 guys who may be out of a job come week 10.

As commish I need to make a decision.

I'm not asking is it fair. It's clearly not.I see where people are coming from. I don't see how it benefits Team A unless Addai is out for a long time. I'm asking because his moves lately have been suspect of him giving up. He's traded good players away for positions he doesn't need. One of the previous trades have been somewhat fair (Owens and Grant for Fitzgerald).But he's traded Tony G for McNabb when he didn't need a QB (has no TE now, FA pickups weekly)And now Manning for 2 guys who won't have jobs in a few weeks...Just kind of suspect

It looks like the team getting Manning has the better end of the deal. But that doesn't mean this is collusion. Heck, I bet some would believe that Manning's value and Anderson's value right now are close. Just because someone got the better of someone else doesn't mean they are cheating.

Not in my division and I've already played him. Team A is in my division, I've still got one game against him so this works for me. If you read my OP, you would see that I have gottne feedback from others in the league not happy with this trade. I can see where they are coming from because his actions lately are suspect

Can people please learn to use the word "collusion" appropriately? Collusion is an agreement, usually secretive, which occurs between two or more persons to deceive, mislead, or defraud others of their legal rights, or to obtain an objective forbidden by law typically involving fraud or gaining an unfair advantage.Unless you believe that they are purposely trying to give one team an unfair advantage, it's not collusion.if the team giving up more is truly in the crapper as you say, then this would raise some eyebrows. The problem w/ collusion is that unless they're dumb enough to actually tell you that they're colluding or unless you can get proof like email conversations, it's almost impossible to prove. Making this claim w/o proof will destroy your league .... people will take sides and no one will be happyyou can't do anything about this trade ... but you might want to let this person know that you have questions about his intentions since he already has a bad team. It might keep him from totally giving away his best players if he knows someone is on to him. that's the best you can do unfortunately.

You made it obvious partner. Because both presidential candidates have dodged answering specific questions. Heck, Palin told the moderator at her only debate that she wasn't going to answer the questions she was asked. As with most politicians, neither Obama nor McCain are "straight shooters." But yet you keyed in on Obama. Like you said, please post something useful or not at all. Sorry. To be more clear, it is not collusion. I can't think of any reason to get involved with it. To do so would be overstepping your role as commissioner, in my opinion.

1. If this guy has made a bunch of bad deals, he isn't colluding, he's sucking.2. I'm betting Manning has a large salary, and Anderson & Rhodes have small salaries, so if the Browns return to last year's form, and/or Rhodes keps htat job, they are very good bargains. That's a legitimiate angle. 3. If you veto this because you decide the other people are right, and it needs to be vetoed; one could argue YOU, the commish, are colluding with the guys who want the veto - since collusion doesn't need to be secret, but you would be infringing on the right of this team and his trade partner to make a trade.

Did you ask him what his motivation was/is in making the trade?

Let's forget about trying to define this as collusion. You do still have an issue you need to deal with. You have an owner making poor trades that could create a large imbalance in your league. Call it whatever you would like.

Instead of asking here you should try to understand why the owner feels this trade helps him. If you have a large problem with several league members feeling something needs to be done you should discuss options with them. Maybe enough people feel he is creating league imbalance and you need to look at replacing this owner next year?

What is this owners history prior to this year? This is a very delicate subject that you need to spend some time on.

For the record. I would allow the trade at this point but start investigating ASAP.

You asked if this is collusion, yet you post the above, which is a question of the trade being even or fair. The trade was garbage in terms of fairness, but there is nothing that tells me it is collusion. Basically, nobody can manage another owners team and there are no rules that can protect the league against stupid trades. There are always a lot of these threads and I bet maybe 1 out of 100 is really collusion. The rest are either no big deal, or just bad trades, and they are not against the rules.

Based on what you've presented, it doesn't look like collusion. Even if the guy is giving up and rolling unfair trades out to the rest of the league, it would take 2 owners conspiring to be collusive. However, as Commish, I would probably question the owner you fear is giving up to explain how he believes this deal makes him better. There does come a point where the possibility of an owner quitting ( and possibly not returning the following year in a keeper/dynasty format ) that the commish should step in. You don't want a departing owner gutting his team, as it will make the league worse off and make it extremely difficult to fill the owner spot in the following year.If the guy just sucks at FF, and somehow believes he is better for the deal, then I think you let it stand.
