He's the best WR in the Martz offense. JT O Sullivan was a big upgrade over Alex Smith. He's also one of the few SF WR's to be targeted consistently in and near the red zone these last couple of weeks. Perfectly fine as a 3rd WR / Flex guy.EDIT: Didn't realize at the moment he's in top 20 WR scoring in PPR, go figure. Last game really boosted up his stat-line.Just wondering if he is someone to target as #3 WR and/or Flex play. Have not seen any SF football this year and jjust looking for general idea if he worth any consideration whatsoever.thanks!
Why wouldn't they be?Not good numbers this week as expected - people still high on the Rev?
Yes. One of the biggest mistakes people make in FF (and one to easily exploit) is to downgrade someone after a mediocre/bad game against a very tough defense. Not good numbers this week as expected - people still high on the Rev?
I agree. The concern I have, though, is that JTO is really regressing so that could destroy Bruce's value even when the matchup is good. I'd say this is another good week to keep Bruce on the bench against the Giants.Someone's got to catch the ball in San Francisco. It's not like they're just going to give up on the pass and start handing the ball to Gore every play. The Niners have upcoming games against Seattle, Arizona, St. Louis (twice), Dallas, the Jets, and Miami -- all of which are in the bottom 13 for fantasy defenses (vs. receivers). His playoff schedule puts him against the #30, #22 and #21 fantasy defenses.I expect Bruce to perform like a WR5 against good teams, and a WR2 against the bottom-feeders. He's a great buy-low -- probably the best buy-low candidate in fantasy football right now.
Just traded Chris Perry for him in a dynasty league (for anyone looking to gauge value). Ike's value is low in a dynasty format because he is a few years from collecting social security checks, but he should contribute to this season's effort.drew726 said:There were two passes for Isaac Bruce that would have been some long ones. One got intercepted, which was JTO's fault, and another was just a great play by a CB that made a diving deflection. Bruce is definately JTO's favorite target and who can blame Bruce for having a bad game? I thought we were expecting JTO to get sacked 10 times yesterday.
Exactly. This has me leery of including him in a trade i'm working on.packersfan said:I agree. I don't think you can say yesterday's performance was a regression, considering that it's about what you would expect against a top-10 defense. Wait and see if he stumbles against Seattle and Arizona before concluding that he has regressed.Exactly. This has me leery of including him in a trade i'm working on.packersfan said:I agree. I think O'Sullivan has been regressing for the past few games. He's become exposed and I don't think he's playing very well. So that's the concern I have with Bruce's value - if O'Sullivan continues to play poorly it won't matter how good the matchup is, he could choke on it and kill Bruce in the process. I think O'Sullivan's poor play and it how impacts Bruce can be seen in terms of Bruce's receptions or lack thereof. Even though Bruce is getting a decent number of targets, many of the throws are terrible and because of that Bruce isn't catching many passes. He's been entirely dependent upon scoring to generate fantasy value. Remove the TDs and his production is terrible. That's what happened yesterday. Unlike many other No. 1 WRs, he isn't getting enough receptions to generate production without scoring. I think O'Sullivan's poor play is a big part of that.I don't think you can say yesterday's performance was a regression, considering that it's about what you would expect against a top-10 defense. And next week he'll undoubtly show even more signs of regression vs. the Giants. But he's also shown signs of progress in these games (i.e., 3 TDs vs NE, only 3 sacks vs. Philly). After next week he'll have a cupcake schedule where he'll very possibly return to the form that he displayed in the first third of the season.Either way, the stage is set for the Niners QB (whoever that is) to put up QB1 numbers over the 2nd half of the fantasy season. Both Bruce and O'Sullivan are good buy-lows after next week.I think O'Sullivan has been regressing for the past few games.
I still like Bruce as a WR3 in the second half. I'm not as convinced about O'Sullivan. I thought he had a chance to be a Top 10-15 guy; then I thought he'd be a 15-20 guy. Now I'm thinking he could end up in the 20-25 range. He just isn't very good. All of Martz's offensive schemes can only do so much. And next week he'll undoubtly show even more signs of regression vs. the Giants.
