Jacobs and Rex get into it after the game (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
After Mark Sanchez threw an interception with 51 seconds in the fourth quarter, essentially icing the game, Giants running back Brandon Jacobs ran onto the field, mocking an airplane — yet another player taking a shot at the Jets' "Fly Boys" celebration.

Then, cameras caught Jacobs after the game calling Jets head coach Rex Ryan a "loudmouth *******." Other remarks about Ryan's frame followed, and Jacobs was heard to say that he went after Ryan "the way his pops went after [Kevin] Gilbride," referring to the infamous sideline spat between Gilbride and Buddy Ryan when both men coached for the Houston Oilers. Of course, Gilbride is the Giants' current offensive coordinator.

Per the New York Daily News, Jacobs said that he told Ryan to "shut the [bleep] up," and Ryan then told Jacobs to "Go [bleep] yourself."

"Rex Ryan is a disrespectful *******," Jacobs apparently said. "The Jets have a big-mouthed, big-bellied coach that talks too much."
In the postgame presser they showed on ESPN, Rex said he will never accept taking a back seat to the Giants."Hell, I'll go out there right now and play them again. Let's go."

Jacobs is a clown, but he got this one right. Shut up, Rex. Please.

EDIT: Here is Jacobs with SalPal: http://usxis.blogspot.com/2011/12/brandon-jacobs-blasts-rex-ryan.html

Jacobs is the last guy I will pay attention to. He causes enough trouble with his own team, without trying to start up trouble with the opposing coach. Not a bigger "thug rapper" in the league.

:lmao:

at the people telling Rex to be quiet.

Keep doing what you've been doing these past three years Rex. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but it's worked most of the time.

The only one who comes across as a ####### here is Jacobs. I'm sure many of his teammates would say the same. Rex appears to have barely said anything. Jacobs is doing his usual nonsense.

I don't get this either. He talks some trash. What's the problem? Is it because not many coaches talk these days? I can't remember him ever saying something that I thought was across the line.

Rex is a giant Dush-bag..

Let your team do the talking by winning on the field, not some blowhard coach!

Aside from the Packers and the Saints, the Jets have had the most success in the playoffs since Rex took over as the coach, not to mention their success during the regular season (compared to the majority of the teams in the league).

Really don't get the criticism of Rex (with regards to his 'talking').

Just saw the post-game interview. Jacobs is more worried about bashing Rex than enjoying the win with his team. It must suck to be such a bitter person.

It's nice that Rex has brought his team to the AFC championship game twice. That is not his stated goal, but it certainly is a measure of success. They don't give out hats and T-shirts for that and I can't imagine Jets fans are banging on their proverbial drums in the Meadowlands because of that eventuality.

As a Patriots' fan I despise the Jets logo. However, Ryan's approach is a lot more entertaining than BB's boorish drones. But until Ryan is actually part of a title winning team, as Jacobs is, his proclamations ring hollow. The Jets aren't unfamiliar with backing into the playoffs so there is hope. But like the Patriots with their crappy defense reality leaves an uncomfortable feeling in the stomachs of their fans.

Jets (8-7): After enduring another beating from an NFC East team, they fell out of their wild-card position and now need a Week 17 win and help to reach the playoffs for the third consecutive year.

The problem with Rex is that at this point, he's failed with so many of his guarantees and predictions that it's impossible to take anything he says serious. It's just noise when he speaks. Doesn't matter what he says anymore, people can just roll their eyes and forget about him.

lol at getting upset from a guy talking. Same thing with people who hate Tebow for being who he is. Americans are in love with facades.

Why would a coach need to trash talk? You would think a coach would be more professional. Can you imagine Tom Landry or Don Shula trash talking?

The Jets covered up the Giants Super Bowl murals that are just outside of the Giants locker room in MetLife stadium.

The Giants organization wasnt too happy with that.

Pretty classless doosh bag move by the Jets in my opinion

That's actually funny. Anyone who takes so seriously that they cannot find humor in that needs to lighten up. We follow sports to have a good time. Rex should be fired because he's terrible.

Rex Ryan.. is not terrible... However.. Mark Sanchez is.. and if Rex and the Jets want to have any hope of making a run at the Superbowl.. they need to look else where.. cause this is Sanchez's third year and he simply is not getting any better...

and seriously.. everyone on the forum is acting like they are "Classy" individuals who have never cursed in their lives, i can't stand when people ridicule someone in the public eye rather than look at themselves and all the ####ty things they do... Americans are just a bunch of selfish #######s because that is the type of society we live in (Including Myself at times), and Rex Ryan is just one of the many...

and i don't know about you but i watch the NFL for entertainment and Rex Ryan is entertaining as hell...

Just stop regarding Rex being terrible. Just making that statement proves you have no idea what you are talking about.

Do you really think he's being honest when he says he believes Mark Sanchez is a franchise QB?

Quite a few folks on high horses in this thread. Should the Jets have left the lights in the stadium Giant Blue? Should they have left the Giants log in the endzone?

The Jets and Giants share a stadium and this was a game where the Jets were the home team - as such covering up the Giants logos, etc was well within their rights as the home team. Folks are really reaching at this point.

1) The Jets cover up the Giants' SB references for all their home games. This was a home game for them. Does anyone think they should have kept them up out of respect to the visiting team?

2) I have no real problem with Rex Ryan. The league needs more interesting people, and you can tell he wants to win badly. He's not in it for the money and going through the motions. The guy loves his job and his players.

3) That being said, his act is getting old because his team doesn't back it up. For those who say he's just showing confidence, etc....you can see that any night of the week. Just go to your local dive bar just before closing. You'll see boasting, guarantees, promises that won't be kept and plenty of trash talk. Just pretend the fat guy at the bar is wearing a Jets sweater and headset and you're good to go.

It's nice to see some swagger when a coach gets into the league and exceeds expectations, but at some point you have to come through. Win a Super Bowl...or at least get there to keep fueling the trash-talking fire. Otherwise, Rex Ryan is looking like the guy in a fantasy league that-- win or lose-- has some good material for the message boards. It's amusing, but without a title to back up the title talk...it's hard to take them seriously.

And when he told a fan at the stadium a couple weeks back to Shut The #### Up! that was just showing confidence in his team? Somehow I doubt that. Seems to me that the most successful coaches are the ones who do their talking on the field by winning conference championships and Super Bowls.

Not on a high horse chiefThe paintings in question are under the stadium right outside of the Giants locker room, most fans would never see them. Why touch them or cover them?

I know it was a Jets home game, where did I say that the Jets should color the endzone with the Giants colors or light up the signs in Blue? (I didn’t)

I understand that the stadium is designed for both teams and that most things in the stadium are designed to be changed on gameday to the colors of the home team that week.

But there was no reason for the Jets to cover up a painting outside of the Giants locker room….other than wanting to be doosh bags because like I said before MOST people attending the game or watching it on TV would never see paintings.

You said it when you said the Jets did a classless doosh bag move for doing what they do for all Jets home games (just like the Giants do for the Giants home games) - the Jets covered up all references to the Giants. Period. So basically you are fine they covered up some Giants logos but not all of them? Is that it?

The Giants don't cover up the Jets logos
Giants president and CEO John Mara said the Jets “do that all the time. We don’t cover theirs.”
I guess I’m a guy that doesn’t feel like I need to blow out someone else’s candle in order for mine to shine.

There are four locker rooms in MetLife. One for the Giants, one for the Jets, 2 for visitors. Is interfering with the Giants locker room done for all Jets home games? Probably not but I can't say I know for sure. Are you an employee of the Jets or Giants? If not, I think you're either misinformed or talking out your ### here. The Jets deliberately covered up the banners to send a message. End of story.
