Jacobs may not play Sunday? (1 Viewer)

For what it's worth - A Beat writer was just on the radio talking about practice today saying he was running and catching passes and "looked like a Gazelle" or is that Gisele?
I assume you are talking about Jacobs and not Ward/Bradshaw here. It's "gazelle", unless you are talking about Tom Brady  Thanks for the update.

I heard the same thing.. one guy even went on to say, you could not see a limp or anything that looked like he was(is) hurt

Jacobs: Not today, probably tomorrowBY PAUL SCHWARTZBrandon JacobsBrandon Jacobs will not practice today because of a swollen left knee but don't start counting him out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals in Arizona."We expect he will be able to go tomorrow,'' Tom Coughlin said. It should be noted that this article was posted at 11:17am today, so maybe he practiced in the afternoon even know the word in the morning was that he was not going to.

Maybe it was Bradshaw but the #'s looked like 27? I mean, they are similar in stature and look a lot alike, right?

Good catch. I didnt even see that. That would be sloppy reporting by the NYPost. Not the first time its happened with them.

He was limited in practice yesterday (almost all reports erroneously said he was out), and he's expected to practice today. If he is limited, probably will sit Sunday. If he has a full practice at full speed, let the speculation begin.

Newsday.comNOTEBOOK Injured Jacobs gets a little practiceBY TOM ROCK | November 20, 2008 Brandon Jacobs was told early on that he wouldn't be practicing yesterday, but he was able to sneak in a little running and pass catching with the other running backs during the early portion of the workout."I was bouncing around and ready to go, but I listen to what coach Coughlin says and go about things the right way," Jacobs said. The Giants' leading running back suffered a knee injury on Sunday that caused him to miss most of the second half and has put his availability for Sunday's game against the Cardinals in question. He was listed as "out" on the practice report, which reflects the 11-on-11 portion of the workout.Jacobs said he could have practiced if he was needed. That he wasn't - the Giants have Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw backing him up - could factor into the decision on Sunday. The Giants could decide to give their bruising running back a few extra days to recover before a stretch of three straight division games. But Tom Coughlin and Brandon Jacobs both said he would practice today."The last time I had this injury I couldn't walk the next day and I was out for three weeks," he said of an MCL sprain suffered against the Cowboys in last year's opener. "This year it's just a nagging thing that's been there, but I don't think it will hold me out."

Actually Ward has been a great "safe" play for the flex or bye weeks all year. Some folks like to put an all or nothing home run hitter into the flex, but if you want 8-10 guarenteed points, he is amazingly consistent yardage wise. Pretty awesome the guy hardly ever gets more than 12 touches, but he's on pace for over 1,200 yards from scrimmage.

Read BJ practiced and looked great does he still sit?? Or do we see him with more Ward then normal??

Thursday practice updates: Jacobs is back, Plax on sideline

by Mike Garafolo/The Star-Ledger Thursday November 20, 2008, 12:01 PM

Running back Brandon Jacobs was back on the practice field this morning at Giants Stadium, working with the first team, but starting wide receiver Plaxico Burress was on the sideline getting stretched out.

After a week where the Coff switched his kickers as a GTD. . .this all make me very nervous. . .I may take the promise points with Ward over the gamble with Jacobs.

Granted I will be at the game, so this is probably the wrong decision.

Running back Brandon Jacobs was back on the practice field this morning at Giants Stadium, working with the first team, but starting wide receiver Plaxico Burress was on the sideline getting stretched out.

Also, safety Sammy Knight and defensive end Jerome McDougle weren't practicing.

Details on Burress, Knight and McDougle to come later.

Stay tuned.

The transcript from Coughlin's Thurs. presser reports Jacobs "limited but not hampered": http://www.giants.com/news/transcripts/sto...?story_id=31949

Respected Giants beat reporter Paul Dattino told ESPN radio that Jacobs "feels great and should start on Monday [corrected: Sunday]."

I expected the Giants to give Jacobs the weekend off; apparently they will not. I hope this decision does not come back to bite them.

:goodposting: i don't give a poop about what he does on monday.

These are the week I wish I played in a league where you started the "Teams" RB, or the "Teams QB". . . .then I would be set. . . .

Now its a toss up on whos better to start. . .Ward, or Jacobs.

I suppose we will all know after tomorrows practices?
