Jacobs ruled out this week (1 Viewer)

Lets see if Coughlin is smart enough to get their overall most talanted back in the game..........BRADSHAW

I picked up ward in the draft in both of my leagues. I got Jacobs in rd3 in my 10 team league. I am in the playoffs in my other league, the 12 team one. I FEEL LIKE A FREAKIN GENIUS NOW!!!!

:D

I thought Jacobs would have gotten injured earlier but now going into the semifinals I have 3 bonafide(sp?) starting RB's! I am not crazy about the matchups but Ward becomes a no brainer now at flex over Branch,Sproles and Holmes.

I do still think Sproles could end up with more points that Ward b/c of the matchups but Ward getting 20 or so touches should be good. :football:

So how do we like Ward this week?
I am concerned aabout the game plan after what happened last week. I hope it was very windy so they couldn't throw and the iggles stacked the box against the run. Without being on the field or at the game you just can't know for sure. If that is the case then maybe this week the wind won't be a factor in Dallas and they can pound the ball while keeping the defense honest with the pass game.I think Ward has the stuff to be a #1 rb on most teams and he has a great O-line. I think he is a safe play for 10 points minimum with decent upside. I thnk last week was his worst week all year....can't do that twice right?

Lost me on this one...
In the first Giant/Cowboy game, in the 4th quarter, Jacobs was running towards the endzone with the ball. Rookie CB Jenkins ran towards Jacobs but pulled up hitting him at about the 5 yard line. Jacobs scored with ease. Lets just say that Jenkins caught a whole lot of grief from Cowboy fans and media about not wanting to try to tackle Jacobs.

Umm it was Derrick Ward

i feel like the guy who falls into a pile of crap and comes out smelling like roses...started P.Thomas and he goes off...now i get to start Ward because of Jacobs :bowtie:

With MBIII as my other stud rb I'm LOVING this news. :hophead:

Hopefully Stewart can repeat last weeks performance. For now I'm sticking with Barber...but I might have to throw Fargas in there instead. 3rd place here I come!

Derrick Ward....YOU'RE TIME IS NOW!!!!!!!!!!
I honestly think Jacobs being out is more a bump for Bradshaw than Ward. Ward may get a few more goal line carries though.Ward has already been getting quite a few touches. Nearly as many as Jacobs actually when you count receptions. Now I think Ward takes over Jacobs role but but Bradshaw takes over Ward's old role.

I think the goal line duties will simply go to whatever running back is being featured that drive.

The Giants pattern has been simple. Jacobs gets the majority of the carries on the first two drives then Ward gets the third drive. I expect that pattern to hold with it now being Ward and Bradshaw.

This is still a RBBC situation even with Jacobs out.

The last game Jacobs missed against Arizona shouldn't be factored in because Bradshaw was hurt in that game.

So how do we like Ward this week?
Ward should get about 25/115/1 and 4/25/1 rec stats..they're going to heavily rely on the running game, now that Hixon is dinged up, and as a result,

Toomer should have a monster game..

Ward and Bradshaw are both going to see a lot of action ..

dont necessarily disagree with you. but, if Dallas can control the ball, and thats a BIG IF, i dont see the g-mens backs having much in the way of stats. the Dallas D has been very dominate against the run and getting a good pass rush, since Wade started calling the D.now i'm not ready to say this D is going to shut down the g-mens offense, but this isnt the same matchup as it might have been earlier in the season.

i dont think the giants will be able to run the ball down the Cowboys throats. eli is going to have to beat them, which he could very well do. the key for the Cowboys will be getting to eli. he makes a lot of mistakes under pressure. he just hasnt had a lot of pressure this yr.

intangibles are key in this game ...dallas is a mess internally and will have a massive collapes this weekend...start ALL giants with confidence

maybe, but i doubt it. the giants are looking ahead to next week. and dont forget the internal problems in NY before they went on their run. coughlin had lost that team. obviously they recovered and the rest is history. all i'm sayin is never count a team out. especially one as talented as the Cowboys.

Yes, the Giants are definately looking past the Cowboys this week. They really don't care much about this game at all. It's not like the Cowboys are rivals or annything. A win really doesn't make a difference - especially if Carolina loses to Denver. They might as well not show up for the game as apathetic as thhey are right now. :lmao:

the eagles were said to have almost no chance of beating the giants in NY last week...yet because of the outside distractions leading up to that game the eagles won that game decidely...why would you think that the cowboys are exempt from such a distraction ? T.O is up to his old tricks and he has brought down more than one team in his career pulling this crap....have you been following the reports ?

watch the games
I do watch the games. On the first 2 drives. Jacobs is almost always the featured running back. On the 3rd drive Ward is almost always the featured. Btw, Ward is almost always the 3rd down and long back regardless of the drive.

Maybe IT IS YOU should watch the games closer.

When did this pattern start?

Let's See......HMMMMMM.......

Looks like Derrick Ward got some carries on drive 2 in 2 games to me
B. Jacobs has almost always been the featured back on the first 2 drives and Ward the featured back on the 3rd Drive. There have been some minor variations if there have been extremely short drives, however, the overall pattern of who is the featured back on the drive is undeniable and has been a pattern right since the get go.However, Ward almost always comes in on 3rd Down and Longs regardless of the drive.

Also, if one player breaks off a big run usually the other comes in on the next couple of plays to give them a breather.

Btw, on the year Jacobs has 200 total touches. 195 rushes and 5 receptions.

Ward has had 175 total touches. 138 rushes and 37 receptions.

So they are pretty close overall just as a mentioned earlier in the thread.

Have you had enough BRI , or are you hungry for more?

If you are going to call me out publicly Bri you better check your facts!

you are hedging here, as blackjack pointed out. Switching from 3rd drive to 3rd and long was smooth...not

that is whom garnerred stats on plays not whom was in the gamethat is one week and not a patternthat is also one week in which the starting RB was hurtingwatch the games
quoting again for emphasis as re-posting game stats really doesn't prove or disprove anything but....I'll play along. It's just then we're going by who got targets, catches, or carries NOT who was in the game.

Are you serious? Ward and B.Jacobs are rarely and I mean Rarely, in the backfield at the same time. If one of them is getting "targets, catches,or carries" it is because they are in the game and not the other one.Derrick ward always plays on 3rd downs unless it is 3rd and inches. That is not hard to understand.
