Jaguars Reciever Situation (1 Viewer)

Obviously MSW is the number one this year, but how will the rest of the group look. Mike Thomas seems like a slot guy to me, but I hear that he could start opposite MSW. Do you think that Thomas will be the number two or do you see Dillard or Williamson taking the job? Who do you see being the best fantasy producer other than MSW?

I personally think Mike Thomas will be the other starter outside, and will outperform Dillard/Williamson NFL and FF-wise.

He may line up in the slot at times, but I don't see the Jags lining up with 3 WRs all that often.

Maybe a Jags fan/follower can provide some better insight than mine.

I think Mike Thomas will be the #2, serving more of a Wes Welker type of #2 WR, More of an over the middle, slot guy. Getting more targets/catchs than Dillard and Williamson.

Seconded. I think Thomas is going to be quite good. He showed skills last year as the #3 and though he's short, he has what it takes to be a solid starter IMO.

I agree with the above, although I think long term he could be more of a Steve Smith (Panthers) light. I expect the Jaguars depth chart to look like1) Mike Sims-Walker2) Mike Thomas3) Troy Williamson to start the season, with Jarett Dillard taking over about midway through the season4) Jarett Dillard to start, then Williamson after5) Tiquan UnderwoodDillard and Thomas are ones to watch. I prefer Thomas at this point based on his great quickness and burst.

I still think Thomas is best used out of the slot where he can be used creatively and to take advantages of mismatches. Dillard will take over the number two spot early in the season, if not by week one. He was really starting to find his stride when he broke his ankle against the Jets last year. Williamson is on the roster bubble IMO, with Nate Hughes possibly beating him out.

Went to the Intersquad Scrimmage:

-Mike Sims-Walker was quiet all night. He really wasn't targeted much. He had a safety rolled his way the entire night, and couldn't get open on a consistent basis against double teams. This kid is very talented, but without a significant threat opposite him or at TE, it could be a long year. I do think, however, that if MJD were on the field, the defense couldn't key as much on MSW.

-Mike Thomas made plenty of plays. His hands are like glue and he is lightning quick out of cuts. He is super physical across the middle and welcomed press coverage on the line. He's a mini (and less talented) version of Steve Smith. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he caught 80 passes this year while defenses take away MSW.

-Troy Williamson was targeted once, and on that lone target, he and Garrard weren't on the same page. Williamson kept going, Garrard thought he was coming back to the football - turned into an interception with Garrard pretty frustrated after the play. Nothing from Tiquan Underwood, and Jarrett Dillard didn't suit up.

How did you think Garrard looked?

From what I read from beat writers who were there, he struggled.

Thanks for the info. Really like what Thomas brings to the table.

He looked awful. It's the same ol' deal with him. He continues to hold on to the football far too long. They couldn't actually hit him obviously, but he took 6 "sacks" on plays where his offensive line gave him plenty of time to go through his projections and find a receiver. No blaming it on pass protection. I thought David Garrard looked horrible until Luke McCown was running the offense. I really expected him to be much better than he was, perhaps it was just a bad day. He looked lost against what is a pretty poor defense. Garrard is the starter by default, and this won't be any sort of competition.
