Jahvid Best airborne (1 Viewer)

Scary stuff and even scarier is that he's still feeling the effects of it. Too bad because I think he could be a stud in the NFL.

It's hard not to look at that and think he doesn't have some residual effects from it. He would have to. Having said that, he's really young and we tend to heal much quicker at that age so I'm inclined to think that he'd be okay by the time training camps start.

There's been a lot of talk of the Lions gobbling him up @34. Although I think he can be a real good player in the league, the priority for the Lions has to be a CB there. A third round talent at RB will present itself.

He's had back to back concussions in games and apparently has nerve damage in his neck due to that hit. I'm not a doctor, but I don't think nerve damage is something that heals itself.

Ahh...I was unaware of the nerve damage. Having said that, physical therapy and various treatments can alleviate a lot of those issues in certain instances.

if this has been posted before, my apologies.

Seems like a great athlete and even better kid, but the Vampire Lestat would kill for those incisors...if he did not play in day games, I would trully believe there are vampires out there.

That is the first I saw of the hit that caused all his woes.

I assumed he landed ON his head and jammed his neck that caused the concussion...that's how I always read about it or heard it being told.

He landed on the top of his back from a tall height (man, he was UP there!). Surely it is better for him that he didn't land from that height on his neck.

He'll be fine.

I have read a lot of concussion research lately...it is not something to be taken lightly, especially b/c he had two of them in a short period of time. He is 5 times more likely to have another concussion over a player that has never had one.

Lots of other things that will effect him as well (memory loss, etc).
We have all read about a lot of concussion research lately. I agree that concussions shouldn't be taken lightly when it comes to a player's post-career and what can be done to prevent it, but the list of players in the past 20 years that have had repeated concussions and had excellent (and long) careers is a mile long. Not drafting Best due to this fear is something I believe is an overreaction to today's climate, which is typical of NFL teams.
