Jahvid Best, RB, Detroit Lions (1 Viewer)

i had my 1st draft of the year, a 12 team auto-pick draft last night on ESPN (non-ppr).

i got Best as my #2 RB.

(hit WR's early)

..... even tho this is my "i dont give a **** league" with people from work, im not feeling good about him as my #2.

he passes the eye test, but im just not sold on him yet.

(i also see where K.Smith was practicing today, but isnt 100% yet)

I would not be concerned about Bests receptions because his blocking is as weak as predicted they will use him in the slot like the Saints use Bush, and leave Felton in to block. I have concerns that Stafoord will get killed if Best is in pass protection. But someway, somehow they are going to get the ball in Bests hands.
Lions are going to use a lot of 2 TE sets, Pettigrew and/or Scheffler can pass protect while Best runs routes.

I think Best has elite athletic skills and it appears to translate to the football field. He has rare big play ability. However, can he stay healthy and can the Lions become a productive offense are two big questions. I see him doing something like 1000 yards and 6 TDs.

"He reminds me a lot of Priest Holmes," Lions linebacker Julian Peterson said. "He does a good job of getting low, he has great vision and he doesn't hesitate. He uses his size and gets skinny and takes off. By the time you see him, he's down the field and you might not be able to catch him. I've been very impressed with him." MLive.com

Interesting comparison. Hopefully that translates into the regular season.
