Jake Delhomme will be a top 5 QB this season (1 Viewer)

This is my bold prediction for this season for a few reasons:

1. All indications are that Jake's arm is fine, and that its feeling better than ever (Jake has said this himself). Steve Smith has said that Jake's arm looks stronger than before the surgery. We can now put to rest the concerns about Jake's arm. Jake looked great tonight throwing 2 TDs and 1 INT in half a game. I know its only preseason, but Carolina's offense looked explosive tonight.

2. Jake's first year in the new offense (last year when he only played 2.5 games) he threw 8 TDs against only 1 INT.

3. Greatly improved running game which will open up the passing lanes. They now have their "Thunder and Lightning" running backs.

4. Improved OL.

5. Much improved WR's in Muhammad and Hackett, to go along with Smith. Hackett can adequatley fill in Smith's role on the offense for Smith's 2 game suspension.

This will be Jake's best statistical season ever. I predict 30-32 TDs, 4000+ yards.

I think this will be the main reason why he won't be a Top 5 QB this season. Now that John Fox has two good RB's at his disposal, his love for running the football will become apparent.

I think Jake will be a good value. I don't think he will be a top 5 guy because the Panthers are a running team first. However, the OL and the defense are looking very good and I am thinking the offense will generate a lot more points and the passing game will benefit from being on the field more so Jake will be a good QB to have on your team, but I think 10-12 will be more realistic for him.

I applaud your guts to make the claim, but as a Panthers homer I will be very happy to be in the top 10 of the quarterbacks.

You're fighting an uphill battle, since he'll be missing Steve Smith for the first two games...

I think Delhomme might be a nice surprise.. but those kind of numbers? More power to ya if he gets that...
