If Kiffin wants to move forward at all, he needs to abandon the Cpepper experiemnt and the McCown disaster and get this franchise moving forward.

It is stunning to see franchises sink with poor QB play like the Raiders and Vikings.

When do we see Russell?

I don't think Russell should start this season. Too much pressure for a guy who missed all of camp (and has a hard time learning offenses anyway). But I think they might want to give him a few drives a game with a slimmed down play book. They don't need to play for wins. They can use the rest of the season to get him comfortable with playing in the pros though.

 Getting him 3-4 series a game for the rest of the season using a slimmed down playbook would be a solid idea. He should get the experience of game action, but not at the expense of his confidence going into next season.

Lane Kiffin does a post-game interview with the local radio broadcasters after games each week, and he was asked whether he thought Russell would get into either the MIN game next week or the KC game the week after. His answer was a clear 'yes.' Though he won't start probably, he'll get in on some series. The coach wasn't more specific than that.

Just curious: where does this statement come from?

LSU football team sources.edit: Didn't hear it from a coach, but from someone close to the team. Regardless, I'd still like to see ALL rookie QBs limited to a few series a game...

Maybe that's true, but if that's how he looks when he's slow to pick up an offense then... Wow. Regardless, the fact that he missed all of training camp and preseason and is still being considered for playing time at QB speaks volumes to his talent and (new found?) ability to learn an offense, especially with limited reps.
