Jared Allen to Eagles? (1 Viewer)

If the Eagles get Samuel, I see this as a good deal for the Eagles.

Sheppard's okay but on the downside of his career. But the Chiefs need a CB after releasing their two starters. The extra first obviously helps.

If it's just speculation, at least it's reasonable.

Zoo,

That post was a joke on purpose. Woods and Andy D said to stick with the facts and shut it down. Anyone reading that post would have known it was a joke by the 4 inconsistencies I put into it. My point was in that post before it was shut down was to say the forums seem to have a lot of speculation in them lately. Normally I do not post very often and prefer to read what others write and form my own opinion. My favorite part of these boards is all the statistical probabilities and reasonings people put into what they write.

This has not been the case as much lately with a lot of the posts I have been reading lately. Point is forums will always have facts but more often than not will also have speculation. What makes these forums different is that most speculative posts are backed up with facts or logic behind them versus just plain opinions.

Back to the issue at hand with the Eagles has anyone in Philly been hearing anything about this potential trade?

The more I look into this one the more I find out about it being a possibility. I am still looking for the source on this one. Any help out there is appreciated.

I think it would be a good move for both teams since KC is not going anywhere soon unfortunately. Just wondering if the rumor still has any validity to it. Everyone knows Philly is looking for a quality DE, question is are they willing to do this kind of trade.

Although we need a corner badly in KC Lito is always dinged up it seems when looking at his stats, but the guy knows how to hit hard. Herm seems to like hard hitting CB based on what he has said in the past in various interviews.

They failed to trade Lito for Fitz, next try Jared Allen. If this is true it would be a huge deal for the Eagles, and I think it would be a good deal for the Cheifs also.

I also heard this rumor - Lito Sheppard and the 19th pick to Arizona for Larry Fitzgerald.
That is what Arizona wants but supposedly the Eagles are offering Lito and a 2nd.
Lito is a multiple Pro Bowl corner signed for four more years at bargain basement prices; giving up him AND a 1st rounder would be silly; particularly because the Cardinals have no financial leverage. They HAVE to redo Fitz' deal or trade him, he counts more than $16mm against the cap this year.

Well if Asante is the starting left corner, who is the right corner? Lito or Sheldon Brown? I really don't think the Eagles will have all three come week 1. Since it's not Asante, it has to be Lito or Sheldon. They must be shopping one of them to get a veteran WR, but who? Perhaps they make a run at Javon Walker now that he is released. The only other possibility that might involve a trade of Lito or Sheldon (likely Lito) is for a defensive end, but I just don't see a marquis name not is on the trading block. This post suggest Jared Allen, but the Chiefs are asking too much, IMO.

I think the Eagles will try to trade Lito, but they don't have to get rid of either. There's no rule against having three Pro Bowl caliber cornerbacks; it's just something most teams have never been able to do. Brown and Lito are signed, sealed and delivered for VERY reasonable deals. In the unlikely event they don't trade Lito, Shelden Brown would become the best nickel corner in league history. I can live with that :D

Lito is toast. He's been complaining about his contract and that's about all you have to do to get traded. Many people like Sheldon better anyway.

No way the Eagles trade for Allen now. There's also no way the Cards can keep Fitz. Well, they can but what happens when Boldin wants his?

Why?I doubt it'll happen, but wondering why you think there's no way?A starting CB and a late 1st for Allen seems fair to me.

Lito has made 2 Pro Bowls in 6 years. He has missed an average of 5 games a year the last 3 years. What do you think his trade value is in draft picks or do you think he will only be traded for a WR? The rumor was that NE and Philly were talking about a trade for Lito after Philly signs Samuel. My immediate thought is the deal would be for one of the Patriots 3rd rounders. What do you think?Word here in Philly is that Lito would be very disruptive is kept since he was grousing about his contract even before they signed Samuel.

Has anyone heard anything else on this since the weekend?
I was actually going to post this rumor last week, but held back because I saw it mentioned on another messageboard reference through Fox Sports and didn't know the validity. As a Chiefs fan, as much as I like Allen, I'd do this deal in a heartbeat.A Pro-Bowl caliber CB, a mid 1st rounder and a 4th would allow KC to go with either Jake Long or Gholston at #5 and BPA available at #19, which could be Otah or Clady if they went Gholston at #5 or a double shot of OL if they go Long at #5.Another thing it might allow them to do is get a franchise QB in the 1st if they covet Brohm or whoever after Ryan goes early. The other thing to look at is that with Justin Smith getting PAID - 6 yr, $45 million - Allen is going to ask for a similar contract and we'll have a ton of money tied up with him and LJ...a malcontent and a guy with a lot of substance abuse baggage because he doesn't believe in calling a taxi from the bars.

Interesting that Law was released and KC is in the market for a starting CB. What I dont like is that Phi has made 2 large DE deals and both were bad. Im not sure how inclined they are to try another. That said, it would be a huge upgrade to our current situation. I dont see the Eagles giving up their 1st for Allen (or Fitz).

I don't see the Allen deal happening at all. The Birds made their move with Clemons, love Cole and think highly of Abiamiri. I think a deal for a WR make more sense; not that it's going to happen.

The Allen deal was almost entirely made up by that guy on the KC message board. Philly has been shopping Lito, and asked KC about getting Allen in return. That's it. The picks part of the deal was made up by the poster. No picks were even seriously discussed from what I'm told....
