Jared Cook - is he this year's sleeper TE? (1 Viewer)

Just not liking him and the Titans offense so far. Once I claimed Pitta today, I traded Cook (redraft) away and I'm gonna roll with Pitta/Rudolph.

Stevens catching well has to be very concerning for Cook owners. He is a far superior blocker. Stevens can sort of go deep unexpectedly like a FB might, but generally Cook owns any routes like that.

It's probably worth noting that Fisher was constantly on Cook about blocking and the game that FF folks complain about Cook, CJ breaks out. He is so undisciplined with blocking. He doesn't learn his lesson and just block well from now on, this happens every year.

The Titans had a slew of WR injuries 2? years ago and Cook did play some WR and did OK. Herders statement is a pretty fair characterization. Stevens IS a tight end. Many times Cook plays TE like he's a WR out of position.

"Tough" on Cook now, Titans are more talented at WR than they've been in a long time, prob since Warren Moon's days.

Damian curiously got some attention from the D (gotta be thought of as a good point in his development) and the rook looks better each week.

I've often wanted the Titans to trade Cook and move on. He's got exciting potential for a year for FF, but if you follow him all the time, for years, he's quite frustrating.

Gonzo is this years sleeper? Picked him up in round 14 of a 10 team league.

To be fair, wouldn't you think the change at QB is a more significant factor than a guy who rarely lines up as an inline TE even when he DOES play? Also I've read that Cook was limited to just 1/3 of the snaps due to injury.Cook had his monster stretch last year with Hass at QB, not Locker. Let's see them play a full game together before throwing him under the bus CJ-style.

He must have done something to Hasslebeck's wife... dude is running wide open down the seam every snap, with a linebacker on him.

Cook worries me -- it seems he's been relegated to the two-minute drill for usage, which is dictated by specific game situations. He's become a really risky start, IMO.

I just dont understand why they dont use this guy more?
It's because he can't block to save his life. Stevens is the superior blocker and it's no coincidence he and Cook's snap percentages have flip flopped since week 1. It's also no coincidence CJ has had his better games when Stevens saw a majority of the snaps.

This is the problem I saw last night, too. At one point, Cook whiffed a block and CJ just shook his head at him ruefully.

Theres tons of bad blocking TE's. Teams usually stop asking them to block and just line them up in the slot as a pass catching option. Guys like Dallas Clark, Jermichael Finley, etc.

The answer is more simple than Cook's blocking ability. Palmer has NEVER used the TE as a center piece of his offensive. I know I have posted this in several other threads about Cook. Continue to ignore coaching history at your own peril.
