Vernon Davis is a bust no more. 965 receiving yards and 13 TDs means you're a top 3 TE.
No offense, but what does that have to do with Jared Cook? but since you're on the subject, don't completely discount the possibility of V Davis having another mental meltdown.

No offense, but did you read the first post.It asks whether Cook will be another Gates or Davis. Frankly, I don't think Cook ever gets to that level, despite his talent. With Chris Johnson and Kenny Britt (who's already one of the best blocking WRs in the league) and a conservative offense, I don't think there are enough balls to go around.

still the same tease of big play and mess up the easy ones, make a good block and miss a gimme one.

IIRC it was Heimerdinger who was quoted recently as saying once in the game he lacks focus he has in practice which sums up well his sporadic production.

Dynasty wise, still think once this kid gets it-gets comfy- he's going to be a big deal. Not sure if there's an NFL TE with as much speed and as soft hands. Wanna say Gates or any number of TEs but when he gets a head of steam running with CJ, Ringer or a WR it's mighty impressive. My point is not a "whose fastest" debate but once he gets it, it'll take a while for teams to get used to his speed, cover it well, and not be lured out of position. The way the Titans like the center, intermediate passing game so much, IMO it's Cook not Moss or Britt that would be most effective stretching the field and being an awesome decoy.

I would not be surprised if Cook is a bigger part of the Titans plans in the post season. Watching Damian Williams and Gage get open underneath and Britt too, many many MANY times the Titans sent Cook deep. This, again, is not about production but being a decoy that lures defenders.

Latest update implies increased snaps for JCook the next couple of weeks:

Titans TE Craig Stevens underwent arthroscopic surgery this week to repair meniscus damage in his knee.

Stevens suffered the knee injury last week, and he's expected to be sidelined "a few weeks." Though Stevens has been a blocking specialist this season, receiving specialist Jared Cook is expected to see increased snaps. The Titans may have to lean on Bo Scaife as more of a blocker now.

I read this other places as well. This big concern about blocking without Stevens and Scaife having to stay in... maybe on another team, but they have two of the best Tackles in football. It's not the stereotypical setup some are making it out to be.Using two TEs versus using three, sure I see Cook getting more snaps but I don't imagine blocking is a big worry of the Titans

Cook passes Scaife on depth chart..?

Coach Jeff Fisher expects Bo Scaife to be active this week after he was a healthy scratch in Week 15.

It doesn't mean Scaife will have a significant role, however, as Jared Cook has passed him on the depth chart. Cook is only a TE2 option this week, and a poor one at that. Dec. 23 - 3:11 pm et

I wouldn't give up on this kid. Big-time talent. It'll happen sooner or later.
I agree his talent is just insane. It is his head that has me concerned. He needs to focus. His physical talent has never been in question. Like Vernon Davis in his first 2 years, it has just not clicked and come together. The advantage Davis had was much more ample playing time and that was due to him being a good blocker out of the gate. That is something Cook has had to really learn and be brought along slowly to figure out. It seems he is now getting "it" and I fully expect next year to be the break out all of us have been waiting for.
