Jason Elam (1 Viewer)

I know - it is ridiculous that I am making a thread about a kicker, but I love the guy and really do not want to drop him for another kicker. He has been steady all year and would love to know that he is going to play this week.

Any insiders/Falcons homers hear anything this week?

I have heard nothing about an injury to Elam, but I'll snoop around. He figures to be a solid play this week vs his old team.

He is indeed listed on the injury report as DNP the last 2 days due to a hip. That's all I know, will post if I learn more.

Not good news on a Friday but, fortunately, it's not like Elam needs a lot of practice as long as he can get healthy.

D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons PK Jason Elam (hip) missed the team's practice Thursday, Nov. 13, and is expected to play in Week 11.

Funny, I was going to post the same inquiry. For what it's woth Elam missed practice earlier in the year and played well that week (3 or FGs). He is my only kicker and am just mildly concerned.

any news? Has a great matchup this week... My impression is that since he is the only Falcon's placekicker and they haven't signed anyone to fill in for this week, he plays. Curious to know if he will be limited though

While this is technically true, they do have a potential replacement placekicker on their roster. Michael Koenen is listed as the punter and handles kickoffs, but he made a 58-yard FG at the end of the first half in a game in 2005 and also made at least one FG in 2006. For one game, the Falcons may be willing to let Koenen handle placements. At the very least, Koenen may be given a shot at longer FGs.

Highly unlikely, except in the 55 yard plus range. Koenen has proven to be woefully inaccurate. In the Mora years, they tried to carry just him for kickoffs, FG and punting. Didn't work out, and we had to unretire Mort the first time. While possible, I find it HIGHLY unlikely they'll trust regular place kicking duties to Koenen. If Elam's injury was serious, I suspect we would've seen a kicker signed by now.

I agree with you, but I thought KingEl should have all the information possible if he is deciding to start or bench Elam this week.

Fair enough

So is Elam only listed as Quest because he didn't practice friday? Do we expect him to play? Guys like Longwell and Kasay on WW and are healthy.

Per TSN:

Jason Elam - K (rank: 4), Atlanta

Falcons K Jason Elam (hip) was limited in practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 11.

Fantasy Source spin: He can be counted on to play as long as Atlanta doesn't sign another PK before game time. Elam has benefited from the Falcons' surprisingly high-octane offense this season and is currently the No. 4 overall kicker in fantasy leagues. Stephen Gostkowski is first, but has a one-game advantage
