Just wondering if Jason will be able to stay in the Top 10 DE's when he's 34.

I know Strahan has done it while he's been healthy.

I think Taylor is in much better shape as well.

He's under contract through 2009.

What are your thoughts???

With the Joey Porter signing possibly signifying a move to a more traditional 3-4 look than Nick Saban used, Taylor's days of being classified as a DE may be over. I don't see his skills declining anytime soon, though.

Will he take a large hit to his tackles as an OLB?

His relative positional value takes a huge hit if he loses DE classification.
Not as much as you think. He was the #1 DL in Zealots scoring, but only falls to #6 among LBs. He had an unbelievable season statistically.
I still consider it a huge hit. He really ran away from the pack as a DL. There were maybe 3 or 4 guys that were even close to him, and even then they weren't that close. As an LB, he would rejoin the middle of the pack. Just looking at rankings does not tell the whole story. Furthermore, he had a ridiculous season and it is very unlikely that he comes close to replicating those numbers. If he does lose DE eligibility, I think he'd be lucky to finish in the top 20 LBs.

I actually dropped in to pose this same question.

Taylor has been phenomenal and a real boon to my Zealots team. But, I'm wondering if it's time to move him in dynasty leagues or does one hold him another year or two. It seems to me (and it may be my imaginaton) that DEs seem to drop off pretty quickly when they do finally hit the wall.

I'm in pretty good shape at DL with Taylor, Jared Allen, Charles Grant, Will Smith, Robert Geathers, and Bobby McCray, so have been giving some thought about seeing what I could get for Taylor.

Taylor isn't going to slow down. His sacks aren't all from his quickness to the corner. He has great leverage and good hands to get off blocks and block passes, instincts to sniff out plays that get him all the tackles. He's the best scoring DE for the decade... only injuries will slow him down. The aching back is a big concern.

from the games I've seen, my 2 cents
