Javon Walker back at full practice (1 Viewer)

yes per rotoworld:

Javon Walker (knee) returned to a complete practice on Wednesday.

(Updated 11/21/2007)

"If there's no setback, by the end of the week, he should be ready to go," Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said. Walker hasn't practiced since mid-October, so it's a great sign that he's back in the mix early in the week. He will be a risky fantasy play coming off the injury against Chicago, but it'd be hard not to gamble him in leagues that start three receivers.

How much longer until somebody asks if they should risk playing him? And how much longer until SSOG comes in here citing the stats that Construxboy pieced together?

My guess is 4 posts for the question and another 7 posts to get the second part...

I am very glad to hear this news! Now let's hope that there are no set-backs. Walker gets Oakland, Kansas City, and Houston in the next three weeks.

I own him several leagues and been doing fine without him all but one. I think I'll leave him on bench except my one terrible team another week!

Might help Stockey get open better! I expect Walker to be not much more then a decoy first week back. They certainly wont over work him right off like they did before at times.

I don't agree with that. If he was only going to be a decoy, why play him at all? That would be a very foolish risk in my opinion. If he's able to play I would expect him to resume his role as the No. 1 WR in the offense. Maybe he doesn't get 15 passes thrown his way like he was the first two games but i would expect him to be involved. Putting him on the field just to be a decoy seems silly to me because there's nothing to be gained and everything to be lost if he isn't ready to play and re-injures his knee. From a fantasy perspective, if you don't need him I'd sit him for a week and see how he looks. If you do need him, roll the dice because it's a good matchup, Walker's obviously very talented, Cutler's playing well of late and if Henry and Young are both out, Shanahan might go pass happy against the Bears.

Running routes and jumping for passes thrown in traffic are two different things on a weak knee.

I dont expect more then 5 targets if he does play!

If he plays, I think he catches at least 4-5 passes. Because if he plays I expect it will be because Shanahan is convinced he's either at full strength or as close to it as he is going to be for the remainder of the season. Again, I see no reason to play him if he has to be limited. Look at Marvin Harrison. He came back too early, played on a snap count and hasn't been seen since. Stupid decision by the Colts and it's clearly cost them. I don't think Shanahan makes the same mistake.

Agreed completely. I'll be benching him for Hines Ward or Lee Evans in one league and Roddy White in another. Not so much because Shanny will think he's limited, but I want to see him connect with Cutler, while Cutler's been getting comfortable with Marshall. :PagingHK:

Maybe I should just put it in my sig to save myself some effort.I own him in two leagues. In one league, there's no way in hell he cracks my starting lineup, but only because I have an embarrassment of riches (Moss, Owens, Evans). In the other league, assuming there are no setbacks during the week, he's starting over Kevin Curtis, Bobby Engram, and Chris Chambers.

Broncos are tied for first in the AFC West with a record that won't get them a bye. They need to win the division and will play like it. At least that's what I'm banking on.

someone cut Walker weeks ago....I have Marshall and cannot carry more than 4 WRs on my roster (AJ, Boldin, Roy)...should I pick up Walker and cut Marshall?

It's tough to say what he'll do his first game back. Deion Branch didn't do much last week, but Andre Johnson did just fine. Both of them missed a extended amount of games with an injury, but neither of them had surgery. I think it's clear that if he does play, he'll be healthy enough to go at full speed and full strength, otherwise there will be no point in risking him. Stokely and Marshall have been doing just fine, and the broncos aren't desperate for a play maker at the WR position, if he starts it's because he's ready to go.

I'm starting him over Roddy White, and obviously Brandon Stokely if he plays.

I don't know your scoring system but in standard scoring leagues, I don't think it would be a bad decision to play Chambers.

  :banned: Money comment, couldn't agree more. IF he goes off in the first week back, he gets inserted the following week. Like always it depends on the league, I've got Moss, Fitz, Bowe and Hacket in a ten team redraft. We start two, three in the flex. Obviously, my RBs are lacking but my other Wrs are starting in front of Javon until he proves that he's back. In a 16 teamer starting 3 WRs, the rules are different.
