From Shanahan's press conference on Monday:

Said that Javon Walker is probably a “long shot” to play next Monday … “He’s got to get extra reps during the week” … “I’m keeping my fingers crossed.” … “We’ll just have to wait and see … I don’t think it’ll be good for Monday night.”

I am shocked at this news.

Usually Walker's word is gold when it comes to his health status and when he'll play.

I don't recall any quotes from Walker saying he would play against the Titans. All of the quotes I saw were from Shanahan, who said he was hopeful Walker could return for Week 11. Link to quotes from Walker saying he was going to play against the Titans?

You're joking, right?Walker was the guy who vowed to play the week he was shelved for knee surgery. Do a search in the SP with Walker in the title and you'll find all kinds of stuff. Here are some:

Javon Walker said Monday that he hopes to return sooner than the initial six-week recovery timetable following knee surgery.

(Updated10/30/2007)

"It will be sooner than six weeks," Walker said. "It will be much sooner than that. It feels much better now." At best Walker could be back for the final 4-5 games of the season.

But Walker told The Denver Post last week that he was making fast strides, and it was determined early this week he may miss just one more week.

So where's the quote from Walker saying he was going to play against the Titans? The only thing Walker has definitively said is that he'll return ahead of the six-week schedule. That's still possible.

reading down?knowing that players often think they'll get back sooner than doctors allow down?

common sense down?

Walker sucks, but he hasn't said he WILL play this week.

Bolded was said by Walker last week leading most of us, including yourself, to think he had a very good chance of playing this week on MNF.Ignoring the several occasions he vowed to play this season and failed to live up to his words is sticking your head in the sand. And don't ask me for links, you know he vowed to play several times and wussed out, particularly the weeks prior to his surgery.

IMHO this whole thing has an eerily similar feel to the whole Terrell Davis saga.

Why does anyone even respond to HK? He always makes outlandish claims and disappears when he's wrong. He's a total ###.

Actually, I never expected Walker to return this week and, again, there's nothing in the info you posted which includes a quote from Walker saying he was going to play. What it does say is he hoped he'd only miss one more week. That's hardly a reason to rip him if he doesn't return.

I wouldn't ask for a quote for something I already knew. And yes I'm well aware Walker twice before said he would play in a game and failed to play. However, I'm also well aware that he never said he was going to play against the Titans, only that he definitely would return before his six-week prognosis (which is still possible) and that he may only miss one more game which is hardly the same as him saying he's definitely going to be playing.

We can dance around semantics all day, but Walker has repeatedly led people to believe he was going to play and then failed to back up his words with actions. That should be taken into account whenever he says anything.

When you can't be right, be sure to be loud!

If I had any confidence in Walker or the Broncos, I would make a move to pick him up. Surprisingly they are still in the playoff hunt and Walker could contribute down the stretch. I do wonder what kind of shape he is in though. The guy probably hasn't run for awhile.

Wednesday update:

Receiver Javon Walker didn’t dress out for practice but jogged and caught a few passes during the warm-up period. Walker hasn’t played since Denver’s third game because of a knee injury.
