Jeep to invest 4.5 billion in Detroit. At least 6500 new jobs (1 Viewer)

Fair & Balanced
I was at the announcement yesterday and it was very exciting for Detroit and SE Michigan.  The energy around the city is building with Ford renovating and moving into the old train station in Cork Town. Michigan Ave around the old Tiger stadium area that was a ghost town 15 years ago is vibrant with bars and restaurants and new housing.

6500 new jobs with Jeep alone, hundreds of other supplier jobs, countless spinoff and local business jobs. After Mayor Duggan talked a UAW spokesman took a dig at AOC and said "Thankfully AOC is not our congressperson."  Detroit will be giving Jeep tax incentives to build new plants and upgrade older plants.

The train station Ford is moving into, is that the massive architectural wonder that’s been empty for years? I saw a piece in that place not too long ago.

Also, good on Jeep, and others for putting in some work in Detroit.

is this is the PSF because we know certain politicians are going to try to take credit for this?  or is any talk about Detroit not allowed in the FFA?

I understand but what does that have to do with Jeeps?
See the thread where the crew admits to wanting a recession if it gets rid of Trump. Some of these characters don’t like to hear positive economic news that can be touted by the President.

One of my favorite vehicles was an old school Cherokee.

That is sad because Detroit is in the middle of a rebirth,  and more business and jobs only add to that.  A recession hurts the whole country so why anyone would root for that is beyond me.

Many people will never buy a Jeep...but sales projection numbers and demos point to that many will.  As with everything to each their own.
I just bought the 707HP Trackhawk.  Big fan of FCA right now - hope they continue to win the HP wars and they will keep taking my money as long as they do. 👍

this is nice for detroit but also nice for williams arizona where kc lights are made and everyone knows you dont really own a jeep unless you own a jeep with kc lights on it and hey i havent even begun to look where unneccesary lift kits and winches that will never be used even once are made but you can bet those towns are fired up as well take that to the bank brohans

Yeah, some very weird posts here. I'm just saying I don't like Jeeps. Will never buy one.
If you'd ever driven one through midwestern winters or rock crawling in the mountains or desert, you'd feel differently.  Jeeps rule.

malvern pa home of jeep snorkles literally has people dancing in the street tonight its like christmas and the fourth of july had a love child brohans and that lovechild is named jeepsnorkel take that to the bank bromigos

Are you against job creation?
I'm against cars/trucks/SUVs that don't deliver what I want.   I emphasize gas mileage, reliability, and overall low operating costs per mile, while still allowing for something that's ready for a long drive up ####ty logging roads.   Jeeps score poorly on the first half of that equation, mostly b/c they're overbuilt for the second half.

What's your point?

There are plenty of threads in the FFA to discuss cars. This thread is about 6500 jobs being created in a city that has had a tough go of it for decades.

You might have better luck here, here, and definitely here.

My car can do anything a jeep does, with class.

This is terrible for anyone that rents in Detroit
Way too late for that, rent has been soaring in Detroit (at least the desirable neighborhoods) for awhile. Detroit likely isn't what most imagine it to be. It's probably one of the coolest, youngest and most exciting cities in the country right now. The labor force can't keep up with the demand for new restaurants, bars, etc.
