Jeopardy Baby, Ooooh-ooh-oooooh (2 Viewers)

I think she is getting more heat than she deserves over all. But, she does continue to make very similar mistakes time after time.
I liked her audition but she seems to be getting worse with time. I never loved Ken but the difference between them just on the nuts and bolts of running the game is staggering.

Sort of related, I’ve never watched Sports Jeopardy but a guy I work with won 8 games there.

He’ll be appearing on $100,000 Pyramid this summer.

Does anyone remember when they had Rock N Roll Jeopardy?

I remember watching it and the Single Jeopardy round had a bunch of 60s, 70s and 80s music questions.

"Wow, I really know this, maybe I should try out..."     :)

The Double Jeopardy Round was almost all 90s and later.

"Ugh, nevermind..."

I see what you did there.

My wife had the rare correct FJ response right after the category reveal and before the clue the other day with Poe.  Love it when that happens.

I did that a couple of times on Wheel of Fortune for the final.  My parents had no idea how I did that.

When they have a 19th Century author question, it seems to be Poe at least 40% of the time (or so it seems to me).

As soon as I saw the FJ category I thought bet $0.

I thought she was an actress.  Looks just like the woman that played several small roles on various sitcoms, like George's zookeeper girlfriend on Seinfeld.  The one where Kramer got in an argument with the monkey.

Wow - two $0 bets made for an interesting Final!

And I really stink at Poetry.

When BobbyLayne returns from his honeymoon maybe he’ll tell us the last time the three contestants were as close as $400 to each other going into FJ.

Another brutal FJ for the contestants, but I got it correct.

Did they really think New York was founded in 1845?

I was flabbergasted. With that date you had to be thinking west coast. But early the 1-time champ flubbed an easy First Lady Q. Like you dint know Ike was the 50s and LBJ was the 60s?

Did feel bad for the contestant on the R, she played a good vane. But all 3 of the DD bets were conservative (600, 2500, 2000.) Playing not to lose instead of playing to win.

Game Stats:

Dave $15,600 Coryat, 18 correct, 3 incorrect, 31.58% in first on buzzer (18/57), 1/1 on rebound attempts (on 4 rebound opportunities)

Halley $7,200 Coryat, 12 correct, 4 incorrect, 26.32% in first on buzzer (15/57), 0/1 on rebound attempts (on 3 rebound opportunities)

Combined Coryat Score: $36,200

Lach Trash: $11,600 (on 12 Triple Stumpers)

Coryat lost to incorrect responses (less double-correct responses): $6,200

I'm surprised only 1 of 3 got the FJ answer. It seemed quite elementary to me.

Per Guinness, this character who debuted in 1887 is the most portrayed human literary character in film & television

Shortly after meeting Holmes in the first story, A Study in Scarlet (generally assumed to be 1881, though the exact date is not given), Watson assesses the detective's abilities:

1. Knowledge of Literature – nil.

2. Knowledge of Philosophy – nil.

3. Knowledge of Astronomy – nil.

4. Knowledge of Politics – Feeble.

5. Knowledge of Botany – Variable. Well up in belladonna, opium, and poisons generally. Knows nothing of practical gardening.

6. Knowledge of Geology – Practical, but limited. Tells at a glance different soils from each other. After walks, has shown me splashes upon his trousers, and told me by their colour and consistence in what part of London he had received them.

7. Knowledge of Chemistry – Profound.

8. Knowledge of Anatomy – Accurate, but unsystematic.

9. Knowledge of Sensational Literature – Immense. He appears to know every detail of every horror perpetrated in the century.

10. Plays the violin well.

11. Is an expert singlestick player, boxer, and swordsman.

12. Has a good practical knowledge of British law.

In A Study in Scarlet, Holmes claims to be unaware that the earth revolves around the sun since such information is irrelevant to his work; after hearing that fact from Watson, he says he will immediately try to forget it. The detective believes that the mind has a finite capacity for information storage, and learning useless things reduces one's ability to learn useful things.
