Only the Raiders....

Im wondering if its going to matter. :lmao:
Oh, it matters....to Moss owners. Trust me.
LOL I'm was talking more from a "winning and salvaging the season" point of view - FF not so much.I don't see it helping any of the Raiders players much this game. QB needs to be able to throw before the receivers have an opportunity to catch. I expect the Steelers to keep the ball and run the clock. IMO Raider offense gets very limited opportunity this week.

Perhaps it won't help this week. But the long-term outlook for Moss is much brighter with Porter opposite him, as opposed to any of the other scrubs on the roster. No disrespect to the spunky, hustling Ronald Curry, but he is better suited to a #3 receiver than a #2.Ask any defensive coordinator which Oakland WR he DOESN'T want to see on the other side of the field, and every one of them will tell you it's Porter. Not that I am a fan of his.... because I'm not. But he's got talent.

I think there's quite a leap being made from "practicing with the first team" to not only being active but being in the starting lineup. Shell wanted this guy gone for four games, NFLPA appeals and shortens it. Why wouldn't Shell continue to keep him inactive?

I think Porter's only value right now, and it's not necessarily great, is in dynasty. I wouldn't count on him for much this weekend or anytime soon.

I wonder if Shell made his point.......he`s man in charge and it`s his way or the highway.

I guess we`ll see if Porter is no longer a distraction ....if not mabey this team will make some noise (fantasy wise at least).

Just dropped A. Brooks for Porter in a 20 team league where we start 1 QB and 3 WR. Had B. Johnson, Huard and Harrington at QB. Was thinking of dropping Harrington but I see him as possibly being there all year and Brooks is still Brooks...

How up to date is this info on Jerry Porter?

Is it a sure thing he's starting, or was this a late Friday rumor?

Any Raider sources reporting this?

Most of you are so funny , you think Porter is a productive WR .

The guy is a loser and bad WR , he wont get more attention taken away from Moss then any other Oakland WR .

If Prter had been any good they would have played him before , or he would have been traded ( No one wanted him )

He had 900+ receiving yards the past two years, I think that's enough to warrant some interest from the fantasy football world. Not to many guys with that potential just pop up halfway through the season. To laugh at people for thinking he is "productive" is, in itself, laughable.

Why woudl you say that? Porter is an ourstanding athelete, with size, speed, and agility to match. He lines up opposite Randy Moss, and should draw single coverage. The Raiders will be playing from behind quite often so he will get opportunity.

How reliable is KFFL? I read the whole blurb and the source was revealed as someone close to Porter, like maybe his agent trying to manipulate the situation? I may pick him up anyway since I'm hurting for a WR.

I may have to choose between Ruvell and Jerry if Coles can't go.

But we all know Coles is going...unless his leg falls off!

So the leading WR on the team(last year) is no good? SAYS A LOT.

I hate "the source" for this news, but the fact remains that Porter is a talented and productive player when given the opportunity. I picked him up as my #4.

True. everything is pointing back to contra costa times and one source. Hopefully we'll hear more. Myself, I picked him up, but I'm not going to play him this week.

this isn't even close to true. The only statement here that is true may be that porter is a loser. Dude he's a bad mofo. I mean he parked in Al Davis's parking space. Would you?

For those that saw the Raiders game, did Porter look like anything worthwhile?

I know, I know. The entire Raiders offense stunk - even though they won.

I'm just wondering if Porter looked right out there starting. Or is he just a waste of time, period?

Whitted was still the starter for both halves. Porter and Curry rotated in but it seemed to favor Porter. Porter didn't do anything wrong...he made a nice sliding 18 yard catch or so at the three and tried to pop up quickly and run it in but got tackled. Ike Taylor made a nice deflection on about a 15 yard out and Walter forced an INT into triple coverage over the middle to Porter that had no chance but Jerry showed some effort to chase down Joey Porter.

I wouldn't think about starting him until he is the clear starter and Oakland is playing a team that can't rush the passer.

Unrelated, Moss had two more drops to go along with the four from last week. :wall:

And yet they won both games.Obviously the Raiders D is better than we all thought, and Oakland isn't as bad as well suspected. They've won as many games as Buffalo, Tampa Bay, SF, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Houston, and Tennessee. They're a game ahead of Arizona and Detroit, although I can see Detroit winning 2 more this year at least.
