I was completely fascinated by the following daily email item:
The Oakland Raiders receiver said Wednesday he would have to pay $210,000 to switch his uniform from No. 84 to 81 in order to reimburse the team and Reebok for the cost of the unsold jerseys.
"Man, there's a couple of nice cars I'd like to get for that money," Porter said. "I could buy a nice vacation home, or at least go half on one with someone else."
Does anyone have any information on all the economics of jersey sales? How much does the NFL get per jersey, the team, the player? Are all deals the same or do stars get a better deal? Are there individual player deals, or is this just one deal with the NFL or NFLPA?
I am not sure anyone will have the answers, but I'd love to be educated on how all of this works.
