Jets making Playoffs? (1 Viewer)

What are the chances that the Jets stun the nation, and make it to the playoffs? I gave my friend 100 to 1 odds for 10 bucks. If they make it, im in the hole for 1000.

I'd make that bet right now.

There's no way I would bet against the Jets at 100-1 odds. The NFL changes too quickly; you haven't even seen the draft yet.

:goodposting: I've got a feeling that the odds for them winning the Super Bowl are lower than that, but I could be wrong.

You just made a horrible bet. Absolutely horrible. I'd put it at about 15-1.

I think the Jets could realistically push .500.... I don't think they have a realistic shot at the playoffs though.

You have to remember this was a top 10 defense last year, and switching to the 34 might well make them a top 5 defense.

Take away from last year the 3rd string RB and 4th string QB and replace them with a solid young starter (Ramsey) and a wiley rookie (DeAngelo Williams) and you've got what is potentially a playoff team.

I'd just think that for the sake of team chemistry they can't get above .500 this year.

Even the legendary Bill Belichick had a bad year before his Patriots were amazingly good.

I'll take this bet for a 1K. But I'm sure you can't pay me if I win. :D

You just might.... the Jets don't play any of the other four 7-5 teams, and have the easiest schedule amoung them by a long shot. 3 more wins ought to do it, with games against Buf, Min, Mia and Oak. Even 2 wins might be good enough, depending on tie breakers.

Mangini = :thumbup:Lil' Schottenheimer = Our draft = The way our D has come together over the past 4 weeks = The return of Chad = Kerry Rhodes = It's amazing as a Jets' fan to know that your team is in good hands for once. It's amazing to know that the people up top are competent, dare I say genius football minds that know how to draft, prepare, and get the best out of their players. Oakland fans, Washington fans, Lions fans ..... hold out hope. I never thought this day would come and I doubt you have much optomism either. Hold strong. Your time will come! :bye:

Despite the favorable schedule, I think we Jets fans know better than to get too optimistic, as the team has historically lost games that they have no business losing. That said, I'd be utterly SHOCKED if they lose to the Bills in front of a raucous home crowd next week.

Things definitely seem to be much different with the new regime, which gives a lot of hope.

And big thanks to KC and Denver yesterday. :banned:

:goodposting: Jet fans are too shellshocked from years gone bad to be overly confident now....One game at a time.Horrible bet nonetheless.

Actually, I'm a season-ticket holder, so yes I have. You're right though that the crowd hasn't been as loud as in past years, but the joint will be jumping next week against the Bills.

I hope so, I'll be there...
Not me - I sold my tix to a buddy many months ago. :( But I haven't been able to sell my Raiders tickets, and now all of a sudden that might be a big game. :excited:

I'm going to my first Jet game this week. Can any of you guys give me tips as the best way to get in and out of the stadium. Do they have alternative ways besides a car? Also how bad is to leave the stadium after the game? Will George Washington be completely backed up? I need to get back onto Jersey Tpke heading South. Thanks for any help.
