I don't understand what took so long. What changed between last week and this week? And why do it now as opposed to either when they fired the GM or waiting until hiring a new GM? Probably is the right move, but the timing just seems like another example of dysfunction.

The Jets are just dysfunctional - right now they have a HC with no GM and no OC and likely no DC (Petine's contract runs this month and he turned down an extension).

WFAN was killing the Jets on this issue today. Apparently when the Jets were contacted about Sporano's firing, the Jets Front Office claimed they had to investigate whether it was true or not. Not, "no comment" not, "we'll talk about it at the press conference," but we'll investigate. Was his nameplate still up? Should be a good clue there.
