Jim Zorn (1 Viewer)

this looked like the bear's offense under wanny...............terrible

did anyone else notice the end of the last washington drive, campbell came to the sideline after throwing the short route to betts and zorn obviously asked him why he didnt throw it downfield, i believe campbell answered with something about no one being open, and then you could clearly read zorn's lips say "it doesnt matter, you have to do it!"

classic

I have portis and his handcuff in 1 of my leagues. Iwasn't able to watch or listen

to the game. From the sounds of it, the skins passing is aweful.

I hope that teams will not stack the box against Portis.

Do you guys see that happening?

Funny thing is, it looked like Portis was coaching Zorn...(I wonder if Zorn has learned the playbook yet?)Von
 That shot of the two of them was classic.....Portis was prolly telling him to stop calling run plays up the middle and throw the #### ball down field more.
Portis did that with Gibbs too. The interesting thing was that in the series after that, Portis had that 23-yard run. I think Portis saw something - likely some cutback lanes on certain runs - and told Zorn about it.

This is why I'm not ready to write Campbell off yet. Gibbs was an absolute Nazi about his QB's protecting the football, and was especially suspicious about young QB's like Campbell in that regard. Gibbs' play-calling was incredibly cautious as a result. The QB last night who threw fewer risky passes in that game was not Eli who probably should have been picked 3-4 times, but Campbell. Zorn is having Campbell unlearn that caution to a degree when the team needs for him to take shots.

I will have to dig up the thread but I know i said at the time how awful it was as an NFL hire. They interviewed a lot of people and then went with Zorn...never made a lot of sense. But its Snyder and he will just can him at the end of the season and start over. It was against the reigning Super Bowl champs in their house...they lost by 9 but if you watched the game, it was never that close. 1st game, let's give him a few weeks before we throw dirt on his grave but he did look lost last night, never a good sign.
:goodposting: I agree. It looked baaaaaad. But I would also give it a few weeks before going into full panic mode about Skins players this year. Cooley looks useless in this offense if they continue to look his way....one time all night. The running game was a joke. Quick dives up the middle and nothing else to speak of. The passing game....was there a passing game?

One game does not a season make, but they have a loooooooong way to go. Of course, everyone knows that now after seeing them last night.

Umm, yeah, actually I do. Campbell, when he was a soph and junior at Auburn, had this "deer-in-the-headlights" look most of the time, and when he did, he was just awful, to the point I couldn't understand how he wasn't benched at Auburn. Then he had that senior year where he was awesome, which led to him being drafted where he was. Well, that look was back in full force last night. I can't see any reason for opposing Ds not to stack the box and dare Campbell to beat them, and until he does, that is how it will be.

You can say the same thing about Carson Palmer, who was downright awful at times until his senior year, and who has had his share of bad moments as a pro. Campbell will improve. Why do I say this with confidence? Because we've already see him perform better in the NFL in the areas we are criticizing this morning: holding the ball too long; going through progressions; being decisive. I'm not predicting anything beyond improvement, but to me what I saw last night looks like a guy trying to feel his way through a completely new offense rather than just playing free like we saw him do last year. Also note that Portis averaged almost four yards per carry despite getting little help from the passing game against a good defense. Portis should be fine and will get better as the passing game does.

Zorn is a total disaster.

The fact they didn't even have a two minute offense. Didn't have a no huddle offense? Didn't have time to install it?

Did he know his was a regular season game? Are you kidding me?

That was one of the worst coaching displays in the last 4-5 years. Art Shell thinks he was unprepared.

How on earth can you go into a NFL game, without a hurry up offense? That has to be a joke. ESPN is reporting it, I almost can't believe it. Honestly he should have been fired on the spot if that was true. To have such a key piece of the offense not even ready? What was he doing all preseason?

Did you put a stick in your mouth before you had your seizure?
