Granted, it took him awhile to get settled in with Late Night. But now, he is totally comfortable in his own skin and just killing it. Letterman? Leno? Conan? Ferguson? Just completely irrelevant, or will soon be. Superbowl special was sheer genius.

Ferguson and Conan are better. I do enjoy Fallon more than Letterman, Leno and Kimmel. Fallon isn't good at the traditional talk show stuff but he's added a freshness to the genre with his new twists. His monologue and interviews are pretty worthless but he's good at bringing the fun factor. I like the games he plays with celebrities, particularly password, pictionary and charades. He does some great impressions and musical numbers. He's definitely come a long way since his first year.

Fallon is getting better every week. He has settled in as a great host.

Ferguson is just too damned silly.

Letterman is almost as old and tired as his schtick.

Leno never was anything but a standup jokester. Horrible interviewer.

Conan RULES!

Ferguson is number one by a wide margin. He can bring the funny but he can also bring the intellect. Some amazing interviews on that show. I do agree that Fallon has really grown a lot though and is certainly ready to battle Kimmel over the number two slot.

On Fallon:

:goodposting: Ferguson is gold!
Ferguson has grown on me a bit. Obviously a good comedian and interviewer. Whomever made the decision to show his entire monologue as a closeup of his face should be shot though. Big turn off.Fallon, from an entertainment perspective, has just blown by all of these guys. His skits make the others look like child's play..

Pfft.Ferguson >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fallon

Ferguson is probably the funniest, but sometimes his humor tends to run a bit inside. The robot sidekick is almost never funny.

Fallon is the best if you are into music. He also has the funniest sidekick. Some of his bits get really old really quick, especially any time he tries to involve the audience, which is quite often.

Kimmell is the best if you like sports. His overreliance on promoting ABC's lineup is a weakness.

Conan used to be edgy, but he has largely gone the way of Letterman, relying on old bits to get him through his monologue.

Almost all of these guys borrow from Letterman more than they would likely admit, but Dave no longer has his bite.

Leno is what people without a sense of humor watch in order to pretend they are being entertained.

This is a very good summary.

Wow, lotta Ferguson love up in here. I can't get through one minute of that guy.

I watch for entertainment value. Face it. This isn't Charlie Rose type interviewing. Every guest is plugging something, and they are thrown endless softballs. 8 minutes and 8 commercials later they are out of there. Fallon has fun, you just want to laugh looking at him, and his skits are genius. Nobody has his range there. I do like Kimmel's wit but he's limited. Ferguson is the best standup (like his routine), but it's not just about the monologue.

Fallon's Bieber is terrible...it was semi-funny the first time. The next 30 times...not so much.

Try something new for a change, guy.

Agreed. Fallon's skits are usually pretty good, and Higgins and the Roots are both awesome. His monologue and interviews are generally pretty painful to watch though from what I've seen. And as Polar Dude said, the audience stuff is terrible. I'm most disappointed at Conan, he used to be my go-to when he was on NBC, but as Polar Dude pointed out he's gone the way of Letterman and doesn't even try anymore on TBS. I've never understood the Ferguson love though. I've tried to give it another shot but every show starts off with him smiling into the camera saying nothing and the audience laughing, which usually results in me changing the channel. I don't really get the intellect thing either, I always thought his humor was kind of low brow. Jon Stewart and Colbert are at the top of the late night list though.

Fallon was terrific after the Super Bowl. I like him and think he is starting to gain more momentum. Ferguson really was killing it for awhile and he's enjoyable but Fallon is much better once the guests are on stage and they genuinely seem happy to see him most of the time.

Conan is great and on twice a night so you can catch him when it's convenient.

Leno and Letterman pretty stale at this point.

Anyone see the Fallon/Timberlake rap segment? Pure awesome by both of those guys. Unfortunately, I'm at work and can't link to youtube.

Great stuff.

Actually Ferguson is the best interviewer. I have seen shows, such as his interview with Bishop Tutu, where there was little shtick and the interview was on a par with anything Charlie would do. I say that as a huge fan of Rose's work.

What I like about Ferguson's interviews is even if someone is coming to plug a new movie or book or something like that, he rarely talks about it and sometimes the only time they talk about it is when he is introducing the guest...

Yeah you don't get to come on and plug away on Ferguson. Although he is a little more giving in the plug department if you wrote a book it seems to me.

Big fan of all 'cept Leno & Conan - watch Dave, Kimmel's monologue, Ferguson & switch to Fallon after Craig's cold open to see what he's got going sketchwise (Higgins is great & would be the greatest gameshow host of all time). But the interviews, Li'l Jimmy, the interviews...."awesome"ly obsequious, reminds me of Farley's "remember when.....that was awesome! interview sketches on SNL. Worst ever at that, but a wildly talented boy.

This is why I like Ferguson, though. Most talk shows, you watch for the monologue and the skits and just try to bear with the interviews. And if you get a great guest, maybe they go fine, but not really through any trick of the host. Ferguson is actually a pretty interesting interviewer, and if you get something like him and Stephen Frye or Hugh Laurie, you can actually have a great show that's just a great conversation between literate, funny guys.I think both Fallon and Conan produce generally watchable shows, but they rarely surprise me. Ferguson often does, even showing surprising heart such as when he defended Britney Spears when every other late night host seemed to view her public breakdown as a national joke.

springsteen week on fallonnot a fan of john legend but he and the roots did a sweet jazz version of dancing in the dark last nighthttp://www.blackbookmag.com/music/watch-john-legend-the-roots-cover-springsteen-s-dancing-in-the-dark-on-fallon-1.45483
this was a great cover...didnt even realize it was dancing for a minute or so

That is awesome that he has found his niche, but I have a hard time forgiving him for being among the worst featured SNL actors ever.

Clearly you never watched the Anthony Michael Hall years.Don't think much of him as an actor/comedian, but I like his niche as an impersonator. Very impressive stuff.

Fallon's impersonations are uncanny. Here he was channeling Neil Young last week alongside Springsteen:http://www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/blogs/2012/03/bruce-springsteen-and-neil-young-sing-sexy-and-i-know-it/
Serious question: is that actually Springsteen??If I had to guess, I wouldve said no but Im guessing it is.Impeccable NY impersonation

I wasn't sure myself at first and had to do some researching, but it is Springsteen.

Dave's staff is doing a terrific job of lining up quality guests for him the past few months. If you watch these shows for the interviews, Dave seems to have a slight leg up on the competition lately.

Dave is probably the best interviewer in the biz, but the rest of the show has just be plain horrible for at least the last 5 years.

This isn't new, but just came across this on YouTube a few days ago:

Once again, it's uncanny the way he can channel these singers.
