Jimmy Graham - Dynasty Draft Value (1 Viewer)

Mark Davis

Footballguy
I just took Jimmy Graham in our IDP dynasty draft. I took him at pick 2.12 (28 overall, 16 team league). TE was a position of need for my team and my current TE is Jeremy Shockey so there is some synnergy there. I traded pick 3.01 (33 overall) and 4.11 (59 overall) to move up to take him.

Where do you guys see his fair value being in an IDP dynasty draft? I was thinking somewhere around pick 30.

MFL ADP has him at 38

In my drafts he went at 26 and 32.

Interested in this also, I have heard great things about Graham, always looking to add depth, with Gates he is not a need but I would love to grab him well before my opponents do

in my 16 team IDP leagues he went 18,18, 22, & 25. Note that these are PPR with weighting that make TEs more valuable than most leagues.

Sounds about right to me too

In my 16 team league he went 29

In 12 teamers- 32, 26, 46 (after Dickson, not sure how that happened) and 34

The one where he went 46 looked like this at TE

2.04 16 Gresham, Jermaine CIN TE ®

4.06 42 Hernandez, Aaron NEP TE ®

4.09 45 Dickson, Ed BAL TE ®

4.1 46 Graham, Jimmy NOS TE ®

5.05 53 Gronkowski, Rob NEP TE ®

5.09 57 Pitta, Dennis BAL TE ®

6.11 71 Moeaki, Tony KCC TE ®

7.12 84 Onobun, Fendi STL TE ®

8.08 92 Quarless, Andrew GBP TE ®

8.12 96 Graham, Garrett HOU TE ®

Odd, IMO

got him at 3.10 in a 12 team PPR (non-IDP). I like his value there, but some of you reaching may be disappointed. He could be just taking up a spot for the next few years with no production. I think it will take him a while to adjust to football especially at this level.

I took him @ #21 overall in ppr-rookie draft. Swing!

ETA: On a 25-deep roster, I'm more comfortable than most sitting on a player for 2-3 years.

14 team league - Going into the draft I had ZERO tight ends. I drafted Graham at 21 as TE's get 1.5 PPR in our league. I took Aaron Henandez with the 15th pick. Hopefully one of them will pan out or I'm in trouble.

Personally, I would let other owners grab Graham earlier than they should and simply acquire him via trade next year when his hype-luster is gone.

I would think every owner who took him expects absolutely nothing from him this year. I wouldn't think he'd lose any value at all.

:goodposting: Spot on here. Graham is a draft and stash in dynasty. Most who are drafting him likely know its gonna be a year or two before reaping dividends.

It's not that surprising to me. What I'm surprised by is that Dickson is getting so little attention. I've been able to get him cheaply in almost every league I'm in.Dickson is big enough, fast, good hands, quick, much more of a receiver than a blocker. He's also going into an offense that likes to throw to TEs, and will playing behind a good TE who is old and can't stay on the field. Situation is a pretty big factor for TEs (bigger than some other positions IMO). I don't think Brent Celek is an outrageously talented guy, but look what he has done given the right situation. He was drafted considerably earlier than Graham by a team that has a good track record for finding talent.I love Graham as a prospect and from a measurables/upside perspective, he's hard to top. I've been targeting him as well. But I think Dickson is being overlooked somewhat and I don't find it shocking some people might opt for a guy like Dickson over a guy who has 17 college career receptions.

Graham is a great dynasty stash, but make no mistake about it, Dave Thomas is the guy to have this year should anything happen to Shockey. He's as talented as they come and proved it last year. Without looking it up, I believe both Thomas and Shockey are FAs in 2011. That's when Graham might make his mark, or they could resign Thomas and let Shockey walk.

May have a bit to do with their drafting of Pitta as well. Some of the scouting reports actually had Pitta higher though he was selected later. Similar to Hernandez going before Gronkowski in a lot of these drafts.Pitta is a guy I've been grabbing after Dickson goes. Hard to say who ends up as the starter when Heap goes down again

Owners draft "potential" players like Graham every year. Once the beat writers stop writing about the player in a year or two, owners lose faith. TE's that fit this bill include the following:Martellus BennettTravis BeckumJared CookShawn NelsonFred Davis (pre Cooley injury)Heck, I'd assume that many current Jermichael Finley owners were able to pluck the late 3rd-rounder from the free agent pool prior to the '09 season.

I took him in a recent 16 team IDP dynasty rookie draft with the 3.02 pick. I was very happy to get him. I quickly stashed him away on my taxi squad.

I'm also ready to take him in my offense only dynasty league which is currently drafting... :lmao:

Cook's the only guy on the list taken about the same spot in rookie drafts as Graham, around mid 2nd. The rest of those guys are late 3rd to undrafted, basically throw away picks. When people spend higher picks on players, they'll hold on to them longer and the players will maintain their value longer. People aren't trading Cook for 3rds or 4ths this year. Some are asking for 1sts. Generally, he has held his 2nd round value. In two years, maybe he drops in value and you can pick him up cheaper. But, if he does, you likely don't want him anymore.

I grabbed him before Dickson(5th round) in CBFL for that reason. You never know with the Ravens.
