JJ Arrington's Dynasty value? (1 Viewer)

Does JJ Arrington have any dynasty value? I'm debating dropping him which would give me a 4th round pick in our rookie/FA draft.

So I guess would it be smarter to hold on to him or pick up someone else. Has anyone heard if he is going to back up E James, or if Shipp is?

Zero. Get whatever you can for him. I think he's third behind Shipp, but it doesn't matter, if both of them get hurt then he's worthless in the starting lineup, he doesn't have the skills to do anything with the opportunity.

Another call for zero. He's still on my team only because I had no reason to cut him... yet. I've tried trading him for the lowest price possible to the Edge owner - a 6th round rookie pick and can't even get that. At best, I could toss him into a bigger deal, but again, he's value is near zero right now.

If you have room, there are worse players to hang on to, but don't expect to get anything for him. In your case, I'd take the 4th.

this is the type of question that is asked by the guy that comes out of nowhere to win your league. you vow never to play again, but you do anyway.

in his defense, Arrington was drafted into an organization where there was discord with the head-coach and a culture of losing... he was drafted too early because of Arizona's need at RB and he failed (1) due to his relative lack of talent and (2) due to an abysmal offensive line... in the few games in which I saw him participate last year I felt he looked good catching the ball out of the backfield and would make a capable backup

keep in mind there's another backup and Shipp is more of an inside-the-tackles runner who would benefit by getting much of the rushing yards, so Arrington's primary value in the case of an injury to Edge is as a receiver our of the backfield

that said, do the deal for a 4th because none of the guys in your league will value him

Arizona tends to make RBs look really, really bad. Ask Thomas Jones. The vast majority of the FF community was ready to drop him too. Ask Edge, who quite honestly didn't LOOK much better in 2006 than Arrington looked in 2005.

I have often wondered what Arrington might have done if he were drafted by any other team in the league. In fact, I might be tempted to give him the benefit of the doubt and go around scooping him up for nothing if he hadn't lost a job to Marcel Shipp. That's the rough one to overlook for me.

Arrington didn't really lose the job to Shipp; he had 22 touches to Shipp's 23 in 2006. (Ayanbadejo was actually #2 on the team with 26 touches). Basically, Arizona didn't give the ball to backup RBs in 2006; Shipp happened to get the ball at the goal line three times against the Rams (the #31 run defense) so his fantasy stats looked better.

I think it is likely that the #2 RB in Arizona will get more touches in 2007 than any of them did in 2006, and I think Arrington is more likely than Shipp to be that RB. That means his value is non-zero, though it's still pretty low; upside is Kevin Faulk unless Edge gets hurt.

its early but shipp is #2.link

JJ Arrington and JJ Redick have about the same value in a dynasty football league.

I rank them just above JJ Fadd, but just below JJ "Good Times" Evans

if you're bored and want comic relief, look up any Arrington thread in 2005 and laugh at when people said he wasn't too short, wasn't a product of a wide open offense, wasn't a one year wonder his last year at Cal . . . metc . . .
